I have to agree, if it's not JDM it shouldn't have Fairlady badges. It gets annoying when someone with a fairlady (ME) searched for fairlady parts or other fairlady Z cars and ends up with a bunch of american Zs with fairlady badges.

Not for an automatic rear. Those are R180s and really aren't worth much. Although you can remove the diff and still be able to tow the carcass to the scrap yard without it.

If it's the output shaft on the trans that's loose then yes there is a problem. The output shaft shouldn't move.

If you look at the side view, the throttle body attached to the intake doesn't have a throttle rod in it so it probably doesn't have any guts at all, just makes a good mount for the tubing.

Yeah I would look into the typical tune up items like plugs and wires first. The voltage change could be associated with weak plugs making a harder draw at that point for some reason. That is odd though. Post the datalog?

You always need to recheck your lash pad clearances when replacing the camshaft so there's always a possibility of needing to replace them. Good measure says to replace them anyway. Remember, with the P90a you can't go too radical on the cam size.

MSA lists them on the site, but the 2mm is on back order. Buy one and wait for the phone call, I did. The 1mm is insane in price as is the rest of Kameari's parts.

Kameari make the 1mm gasket and they charge an arm and a leg for it. The popular 2mm MLS gasket was produced by Nissan, but is currently in a back order status with no date of availability to be seen. I tried emailing cometic about making a new gasket, but never received a response back. Good luck, I got lucky and found an old one. Might want to try the Parts Wanted forum and see if anyone has an old one available. They are reusable.

Check the transmission fluid. If she sat for a long time the rear seal might have leaked. Might as well change the fluid for something decent while you're under there. Also check the fluid in the rear differential. Get some electrical contact cleaner from the auto parts store and a wire brush. Then, clean all the electrical connections really good. The "ballast" above the coil is just a ground capacitor to clean some of the noise out of the electrical system. The red and green have me stumped a bit so they must not be too important, but it looks like you're missing a fusible link box, there should be two side by side just like the one you have. Where did you get this car??? Looks like it came out of a junkyard with all that rust and mess. What year is this?

Unless you swap the cam over, eliminating the spray bar will eliminate any oil to the lobes. You're best bet would be to buy an upgraded cam or have the one in the P79 reground, then call MSA and get the spray bar block off plates and you end up with the same internally oiled setup. Honestly I don't think your oil pressure problem is caused by your cam. I run both internally oiled cam with a spray bar and my oil pressure sits at the half mark of the gauge at idle after warm up.

N42 motor from a late 70s 280 has dished pistons already, so I would start there for safety reasons. Although it's easier just to get a turbo motor complete and drop it in.
