  1. Those prices are rediculous! I could see prices close to that for NOS, but not for used stuff.

I'd like to buy radio parts because it seems that those are the first things people throw out when they buy a Z. When people want to do a restoration, they're going to need a radio.

  2. I think alot of the z sellers are on crack. I saw one on ebay a couple of weeks ago for $27,000 with a hideous "$20,000" paint job and I about died laughing.

Quick story; I saw a Z at a small hole-in-the-wall dealership for sale. So, I stopped in to look at it. The paint was peeling and 1/4" thick pieces of body filler were falling off from the poor bodywork, the bumpers were dented and sagging, the floor looked like swiss-cheese, the tires were balled, it had three different wheels on it, the interior looked like a grizzly bear and a puma were mating in it, the dash was torn to shreds, the car sat lopsided, and it didn't have the original engine or transmission.

I went inside to ask how much it was. I was expecting somewhere around $800-$1000. The guy told me $3900! I looked at him and said, "Would you take $600?" The guy got red in the face and said, "Get out of here you idiot." I responded, "There certainly is an idiot here, but it sure as hell isn't me."

A few weeks go by when I'm at a restaurant and what should pull up? Sure enough, someone bought the car. I saw the guy and said, "So you bought that car, huh?" I asked the guy how much he paid for it, and he told me he got a deal on it for $3700! I started to grin, and explained to the guy about the value of Z's and what not, and the guy got pissed and started yelling about how he was going to sue the dealership. Of course we all know, the guy was SOL.

Anywho, that's my story of how stupid unknowledgeable sellers can be.

  3. I say go for it! Not for the fuel economy (although that's a nice benefit), but just because I'm a diesel junkie. I can't wait to start making some money so as that I can buy myself a couple of diesels. The smell of diesel fuel, low-end torque, and black smoke make it all worth while! :2thumbs:

  4. Story #3. Not directly CL related, but I'd post it since I put the ad on CL anyway.

I sold my Neon R/T, and had some parts left over, namely a stock 16mm rear sway bar. it was in perfect shape, since I replaced it with a 22mm unit, and this just sat for years without any use. Now I really had 0 use for it. So I sent an email to the local bay area neon email list saying if someone wants it for free, it's theirs.

I get a reply back from one guy saying "hey, I could use it. You mind dropping it off in San Jose?"

I replied with "if by 'San Jose' you mean my dumpster, it's already on your doorstep"

    That story is great! :lmao:

  5. I've never seen one, but I imagine it would work. I don't know how large the Mercedes-Benz engines are, but as long as they're not too big, it should work.

Also, be sure to check into WVO technology before you dive head first into it. It's not as simple as dumping the stuff into your tank and going. Do a little research on google about kits to convert WVO into usable fuel.

  6. whats the worse that could happen in that horrendous fly-by traffic? a 5 mph pile up? i dont agree with it, no. just not sure why it's getting such a poor review. i do think the video would have been more entertaining if the bus would have hit him though. i love how he had to stop, back up, then continue, haha.

Just because it wasn't high speed, it's OK? How would you feel if somebody was doing donuts in the street and hit your car? I doubt you'd have the same "it's no big deal" attitude then.

  7. The guy in the BMW needs to be shot. I've seen some pretty stupid people before, but that guy tops the list.

The guy on the bycicle however, was pretty darn impressive. Getting bycicle tires to spin, let alone smoke takes some pretty strong legs.

  8. sorry john i will try to make it esier to understand. im just a pist off poor puncuator and some one from cragslist is flaking on me as we speek im about to give up

"Shift Key (Shi-ft K-e) -noun- The key on a keyboard that, when pressed, will change a lower case letter into a capital letter"

I'm sorry to hear that you're having troubles with selling your vehicle. Sometimes you've just got to stick it out and hope for the best.

  9. Anyone ever visit jaylenosgarage.com? I found it a couple months ago and I'm addicted. He's got some of the coolest cars I've ever seen. His latest video of the 1909 Stanley Steamer Model R is great. It's no wonder we're not driving steam cars, those things are death traps! Although I still want one!

Jay Leno has got to be one of the coolest, if not THE coolest celebrity ever. He's hilarious and knowledgable and he's not the typical "I'm famous so I'm going to tell everyone my opinion on the world" type of celebrity in Hollywood.

  10. When I first bought my truck, I called it Muhammad Ali. The truck had a bent rim, imbalanced tires, and a broken belt in one tire, all which caused it to shake after 60. (A reference to Ali's parkinson's disease in his old age)

A guy I went to school with called his truck Donny the Retard because when you'd rev to 3000 the truck would go "der der der."
