  1. Hey guys i have a 1979 280zx with a shot rear Brake caliper. I also have an 83 parts car, can i swap the Rear Brake Rotor and caliper from the 83 onto the 79? They look to be vary different braking systems but they seem to have pretty much the same mounting points. Please let me know what you think. 1979 Turbo motor with T5 Custom Driveshaft to the Stock R180 rear end.

  3. Hey guys, Just got my Pallnet Fuel rail thought it was an 11mm rail but its a 14mm rail (as my injectors fall out). I really want to use these injectors, so does anyone know of adaptors? or will running a larger outer diameter o-ring work? If not what are my options in a 14mm without getting into Machining the intake? Please let me know what i can do here guys, if not i might just resell the rail
  4. Hey guys, Ok here goes! I have a set of RB25det top feed O-ring injectors that OHM at 12.5-.7 I am currently running Stock setup on my L28et 83 harness/ecu and injectors. I would like to use the RB25et injectors but they are high impedance and the stock setup is low impedance, What would i need to do to run these injectors With the Stock ECU and harness? Any help on this would be great!

  10. hey guys i have My motor running for up to 15 seconds,,, but fuel pump doesn't prime and doesn't apprear to stay on after i stop cranking. Did alot of looking at the two harnesses and several writeups and i think my problem lies in my l/r wire from the turbo harness isn't hooked to anything on my n/a i am not good with wireing does anyone know what wire i'm to tap this into? I assume fuel relay #2 under the hood but what colour wire, looking at the wireing diagrams i think blue but i don't know for sure. Car 1979 n/a 5spd Donor 1983 turbo 5spd I am useing the motor/injector harness/ecu from the 83 turbo any help is appreciated!

  12. Oh ya i have a timing light i'm just not aware of a way to use it if it will not idle long enough to use the light. Just looking for any tips on setting timing as if it was a first start up. Thanks for the input though
  13. Hey guys my Turbo swap with turn over catch and die, i get fuel, i have spark on all plugs, injectors fire..... it will catch but it dies almost instantly.... It has caught and run for 20 seconds and i shut it off after that it catches and dies. Seems like a timing issue to me but i have never had to set initial timing for first start up before..... and a timing light is useless without being able to idle it. 1979 n/a 5spd With an 83 harness, coil, ECU, HEI, turbo motor/T5 Motor ran good when pulled from donor car. The guy who started this swap for me did pull the Dizzy no marks to line it back up. Please be patient here guys, i'm a newbie (i have searched for these answers) FSM,Hanes,Z-car.com and here)
  14. Guys my 79 280zx fired up for the First time after its Turbo swap!!! It didn't run great..... But it runs!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Thanks for all the help guys, couldn't have done this without all of my Z brothers and sisters out there!!!!
  15. Ok did the H.E.I. ignitor swap last night and i now have a good strong spark out of the coil, but so far nothing out of the plugs took the cap off and cleaned the cap for dust and the rotor as well. Any suggestions??? So close to my car running i can feel the breeze from my first highway run!
  16. Thanks for the clear info on those functions! I have a constant 12v on the B/W wire and a Seemingly pulsing signal on the other wire. I have a Brand new MSD Blaster 2 coil and no spark out of the coil.... don't know what it could be but the igniter open to any and all suggestions, going to get an H.E.I. unit tomorrow and we will see. Please keep the ideas and help coming guys i really do appreciate it more than you know!!! Any one know what it should ohm at???

Ok think my ignitor might be toasted then does anyone know what the volt meter reading should be on the yellow/white wire while cranking? i'm getting 1.34 - 1.46 V on my meter while cranking....... Thanks for the help guys i am soooo close my plugs have fuel on them so everything else is good!
  18. Hey guys the guy who started my swap cut the yellow and white wire, i have spliced them back together but i have no spark..... how can this be fixed? BumbbleZZ's writeup say not to cut it..... but its done now and i can't see why it can't be fixed?
  19. This isn't even M.S. this is just stock ECU maybe in 10 or so years when my understanding of this wireing is better i will do M.S. One thing i still do not get is the conection for the ignitor guys, I have a blue wire and a brown wire attached to the clip for the ignitor. Yet the 83 wiring diagram calls for a YW and a BW the YW i found that on the E.C.C.S. harness and i have tapped in and run it to the ignitor, but what B/W wire are they talking about? Ignition? The one by the battery? can I even use to Stock n/a ignitor connector or should I go strip the turbo one, The guy who started this mess said it would be fine this way..... Thanks for all the help guys please keep it come'n i need it!
  20. Thanks for the assistance, I still have a question though. I have figured out the yellow and white wire goes to the ignitor, The wiring diagram seems to say i need the black and white wire from the ignition on the other post. My stock ignitor connection has a blue wire, and a brown wire, what does the blue wire get hooked to???? i thin it should be the black and white just need confirmation. Thanks for the help and please do continue so frustrated with this thing (wishing for my n/a back)

I have used this site http://strausz.us/zcar/turboswap/ This way my model for my turbo swap, I think i may have gotten the wiring wrong does anyone have pics of where there turbo harness ties into the n/a Dash harness? What i did near the ECU was Turbo harness for (ECU) Yellow to ignition yellow with white to blue wire (from stock n/a setup off to the side single plug) Ecu power light lights but the ??Starter?? make a whining noise. The arrows and question mark indicates the connection i am unsure of, they both say coil so i tied them together..... Any help would be great (i am new to wiring) and i didn't start this project and i almost wish i had my good old n/a back so please any help is appreciated!
