  1. If you check zilvia of freshalloy someone had a carbed KA that used 4 single carbs off a motorcycle. It looked sweet and the guy said it worked.
  2. I've been asking myself the same question over the past few months. I've drivien both and personally like the STi better. I think the EVO has an edge in the looks department but I've always been a fan of the sound of the boxer and the STi seems "easier" to drive.
  3. Loosescrews - I've replaced everything in the "fuel delivery" system but I probably do need to check the pressure..my luck it will be the lines from the tank to the engine compartment. The tank was full of crap but it was sandblasted out and coated with epoxy. MikeK280Z - That's going to be my project this weekend, A friend of mine just did that on his Z and he said it's made a world of difference on everything electrical related. Nismo280zed - I know but I have the world's worst patience...)
  4. Well the sensors are on the way so we'll see. I have a friend that bought a 77 that was already 90% restored and I gave him grief about "missing out on the experience" of re-building his Z....I'm not so sure he didn't have the right idea! )
  5. Well I'm going to call MSA today and order them and new connectors..if's that's not it I'm going to invest in some of that Katrina priced gas and a book of matches!
  6. FPR? No, I haven't replaced that yet. It does start sputtering and backfiring a bit at 3500 rpm...I guess it's a good safety measure. I'll check the FPR today, I may just go ahead and replace both of those sensors as well, after 29 years it can't hurt I don't guess.....
  7. crap! So should I disconnect the battery and see if that clears it off? I've replaced the tank, the fuel gauge sending unit, the fuel pump, all six injectors and all six injector plugs. This goes along with the usual plugs / wires / cap etc...
  8. I think I have narrowed my long and exspensive list of FI problems down to a sensor near the throttle body, problem is I don't know what it's called. If you are looking at the motor from the front there are two sensors side by side near the top of the block. If I unplug one the rough idle goes away so I'm guessing it's the culprit. I have a haynes manual but it doesn't have any idiot pictures. It's a 1976 280Z. Any help will be greatly appreciated. Rondal
  9. Don't let it get to you. It happens on most forums, most people think eveybody knows how to use computers and navigate forums, search engines etc.... Just keep plugging away and good luck.
  10. Thanks for all the response everyone! I know where Hudson is..where's this Z place? I would like to cruise through it and look for a few things. I was wondering about the chassis designation, I figured it would be "Z" Z30, Z31, Z32, Z33..so it's "S" instead?
  11. There is a guy in Atlanta that built a reliable 400hp KA-T, so it's a solid motor but it's not very rev-happy and has been pretty much ignored by the aftermarket. I have all the basic bolt on stuff on my 97 and it's fun to drive and still gets 28/30mpg so I'm not THAT dissapointed with it. I rode in a guys car that had the S15 SR swap and it was smoooooth... You're not kidding about the bandwagon..it's gaining steam....
  12. Well it use to be that the S chassis guys were a fairly knowledgeable (sp) group of guys. The cars weren't that popular in the US because of parts issues and the fact that everybody and their grandma were into Honda's. Now that drifting is so popular all the Civic guys are jumping on board with their big wings, clear tailights and huge exhaust on N/A cars...You're right though, they're in for a rude awakening... I've battled back and forth with the whole SR swap idea in my S14 but I drive so far to work I didn't want to run into any reliability issues so I stayed NA KA which is hurting in the H/P department. That's where the Z comes in....
  13. Thanks B! I'm sure I'll have some noob questions but I'll search them out before voicing them. I'm guessing that most of the Z-Guys are older than the regular forum guys. The whole S chassis scene is turning into a "rice fest" because of the "drifting scene".
