  1. I am running an n42 head on a 54 block bored .40 over with dished pistons. Stock turbo at about 8 lbs. timing at 20btdc. on 93 octain gas . I have no pings or knocks.I love this setup because of the off boost tourque. I get full boost at 2300 rpm. from the higher compession. I have great on boost power and get a surge at 5000 to 6500.I am using the stock n/a cam from a stock 76 n42 head.I recently drove through the mountains fron nc. to ky. and got 26.5 mpg at 85 mph.Using the engine calculator I have about 8.4 to 8.5 compression.

  2. Sorry, its an 83 turbo. It will rev to about 4k then go flat. It seems like it runs out of fuel.I changed the fuel filter and checked the timing.ajusted the afm. All electrical connecvtions seem good. All that happed from good to bad was the o2 wire. I thought that the o2 would mostly effect the mid range.I will recheck my soddering. Any other suggestions?

  3. Help!! I cut the wire to my o2 and soddered it back together and the motor goes flat when the boost builds and will not rev out.Can an o2 senser have this muth effect? Is there any reason you can't sodder one?Its the only thing that happened after i turned the motor off the prior day.ANY CLUES?

  4. Does any one know the stock converters stall speed on the stock n/a and turbo auto trans? Can you put a n/a converter in a turbo auto? I have an n42 head on a f54 block and have about 8.5:1 compression. I want to run a n/a converter in a tubo auto. What do you think?

  5. Will the maxima trans mount just bolt into a turbo zx? Is there a model or year that can use the turbo drive shaft? What was the stall speed of the maxima converter and haw was it with the turbo motor? What ratio diff did you use? I was considering going down to a 3:7?

  6. I have an ignition miss on an 83 turbo. When using timing light. there is a miss that shows on all plug wires. The strobe does not flash on a pattern of 5 flashes and then none and then flashes again. Same pattern on all cyclinders. Only shows at idle and when engine under load under 2500 rpm it is not notice able above that.New rotor, cap wires and plugs. Was this way when I bought it.Bad disy?Any ideas?

  7. As long as you switch all the towers you shouldn't have a problem. I have done it several times to get the spray bar oiling. After pulling appart a dozen junk yard engines and comparing cam and tower bering wear. the spray bar cams are in much better condition over all.I bolt in the towers and tourqe the head to in sure there is not any binding before putting in the rockers. You should be able to turn the cam with two fingers before the rockers are installed to test for binding.

  8. I have easy access to all those parts for free. a friend has a junk yard full of z cars.Well the mystry continues. After a week of driving with the stop screw adjusted to make it idle it reversed its self and went to idle at 1400 rpm. So I reversed the stop screw adjustment back to its original setting to get a 700 rpm idle.Three weeks later its still fine.If the acc valve stopped working it would stick open or closed.Closed it would make it run rich when hot but run fine when cold.If stuck open it would not want to idle well cold but should run fine hot. It would not start hot or cold until I turned the throtle stop screw on the throttle body from its stock setting.

  9. Have 83 Turbo And Ecu In 260. Has Been Truoble Free For A Year. Now It Runs Great Above Idle . But No Idle. So Far I Have Changed The Following. Ecu, Air Flow Meter, Temp Sending Unit, Fuel Regulator, checked Timing, Changed Coil And Ignighter. Any Ideas. On The Turbo The Ecu Controls Idle. Could It Be The Throtle Body?help! Daily Driver

  10. Help! I have A 83 TURBO MOTOR AND ECU IN A 260. hAS BEEN TROUBLE FREE FOR A YEAR . NOW ON THE WAY TO WORK IT WILL NOT IDLE. rUNS GREAT ABOVE IDLE .CHANGED OUT THE FOLLOWING , FUEL REGULATOR , AIR FLOW METER, HEAD TEMP SENDER, COIL AND IGNITER, ECU.CHECKED TIMING.ANY IDEAS?. ON THE TURBO I GUESS THE ECU CONTROLS THE THROTLE BODY TO CONTROL THE IDLE? COULD THERE BE SOMETHING THAT COULD GO WRONG WITH THE GIZMO THAT HAS THE HARNESS ATTACHED TO IT? HELP HELP. DAILY DRIVER.

  11. Try A Turbo Throttle Body And A Msd Ignition With The Tripple Fire Featue Under 4000 Rpm. You Can Trick The Cold Start Injecter To Richen Things Up And The Msd Will Help With The Richness Issue. Then Theres The Mega Squirt Fuel And Fire Controll Way To Perfect Your Fuel Ratio But That Part Is Beyond My Experiance.see The Links On The Home Page About That.

  12. The N42 Is The Best Head Of The Ones Listed. Bigger Valves Than The E88 And Better Exaust Port Shape Than The N47 Which Has The Same Chamber.a F54 Block Flat Top Pistons And The N42 Head Will Give You Over 9:1 Compression. If You Mill The Head And Go With A Cam With Lots Of Overlap You Can Get Away With The High Compression . The Overlap Will Bleed Off Some. Be Sure To Make The Head Really Smooth To Prevent Detonation From Hot Spots.as For As Stock Cams Go, Naviathan Is Right On About The 260 Cam. Highest Lift And Duration.the Big Cam Will Give You More Power Up High But Cost You Down Low.use An Electric Fan And Synthetic Oil To Free Up A Few More Ponies.an Old Maxima Flywheel Is Lighter And Will Help Revout In The First Two Gears But Is Not Noticeable After That.are You Using Carbs Or Injection?
