  1. Thanks for the replies, I'll check that out.
  2. looking to see if anyone sells just a rubber mat to replace the carpet, like you see in work style trucks.
  3. any way i might be able to get someone to take a pic of the back of their alternator so i can see which wires go where? my car is an 82 NA
  4. ok, maybe i will call JIS and see if they will send me the one that i actually ordered. i guess i shouldnt have trusted them to send me the correct one.
  5. I have an 82 280zx, I had to replace a few things and used a JIS head gasket, i know its cheap but i wasnt planning on doing much with the car as far as performance. anyway i get the motor back in the car and had a very bad water leak, after pulling the head i found that the gasket left a jacket completely exposed. i ordered the correct gasket for the correct year and they have a very positive feedback on ebay (99.9%)but it is OBVIOUSLY not the right one after looking over it. (i should have looked over it harder, so its partly my fault) now im going to have to buy another gasket, was looking at the fel pro units like shown here http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Fel-Pro-HS8799PT-Head-Gasket-Set-/350470369533?pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&fits=Model%3A280ZX&hash=item5199a970fd i shouldnt run into the same issue with this gasket right?
  6. hey guys going to get the head resurfaced and had a quick question. I need to remove the cam what i was wondering is can i just unbolt the journals and pull the whole assemble out and put it right back or do i need to leave them and pull the cam through by taking the retainer springs off and moving the arms out of the way?
  7. ya i think im gonna go with the arp rod bolts, ill re use my head bolts for now. I really appreciate the replies guys, the knowledge on this site is incredible. all i need to put the motor back together is my gaskets, the rod bolts, and a single rod from advance auto parts.
  8. hey guys got a noob question for you. I have searched on this topic and from what i have read it seems like both the head and rod bolts are one time use. my question is are the ARP replacement rod bolts reusable? i think this time around i will buy stock head bolts, but for 50 bucks off ebay for arp rod bolts i figure they might be a good buy if i can re use them. thanks for any help, this is my first time messing with the L28 or any Z for that matter.
  9. z-ya, yes they are all pointing to the front, i just thought it was weird that that one cap faced the opposite way which made me think it got turned around.
  10. ok, ya i dont think it was ever rebuilt, thanks for the reply.
  11. ok i pulled apart my l28 out of my 82 NA, and i just have a quick question about the rod caps. they are all in the order i took them out and the numbers on all of them face the same way except number 4, is that right or did i accidentally spin that one around?
  12. thanks for the welcomes everyone, i'm going to start browsing around.
