Been down that road... http://forums.hybridz.org/showthread.php?t=100106
great thread
looks like i wont be going down that road either......saves me from wasting the money.
i am just going to get an autopower rollcage and call it done...

that one is nice, pricey, but nice....have you looked at the ones from harbor freight? just a suggestion.
-
what tubing bender did you order?

RN in the ER (night shift)

the 240z bad dog rails go over the stock rails also.....at least mine did...
-
i installed my mad dog frame rails. i had them make me an uncut front section so i could fab a better fit. jmortensen, looks like you stitch welded your rails on. i stitch welded mine on too, then went back and filled in the gaps so it formed a weld bead down the whole length of the rail. i know that might not have been the optimal route to go, but it looked like crud could have easily gotten into those gaps and caused more rust troubles down the road.....
should i have just left them stitch welded?

i think its worth it (the price even includes shipping)...figure in the price of steel, powdercoating, gauges, fittings, and labor and you would come pretty close. easier to just go down to costco and write a check and call it DONE.......

mazda rotary???
i have seen a few nice roadsters with some fast rotaries in them

Funny that you mention it' date=' I actually sold mine a few months ago. It was in pretty rough condition, and I decided I wanted a Z. It [i']would've[/i] been a cool car. Sold it for 100 bucks to some guy on Ebay, full of a ton of parts; deal of a lifetime for him. I got the thing for free, and I wanted it out of our driveway, and he had to pick it up, so it was a pretty sweet deal for me, too.
Oh, and that Hemi Sprite is frickin insane! I'd drive it.
i saw that car on ebay....had wire wheels on it right?
-
i have a 1966 austin healy sprite. its a great car. fun to drive and easy to work on (it really is) i have found that parts for the later models (non bugeye) are still easy to find. lots of aftermarket parts too. i plan on replacing the stock 50hp motor with a 200hp rotary monster. i have seen a few of these rotary sprite hybrids and they are becoming more and more common. oh and did i mention, they haul a$$

this was my first year (240z was not ready though) and i enjoyed the show. seemed that the placement of cars in the morning was a little chaotic from what i had observed. later i was told that there was over 600 cars there.
i was able to get some great advise and ideas for my current build....i look forward to attending next years show with my 240z.....

i will be there sunday also....but i don't have any hybridZ clothing to wear
i am looking forward to meeting a few of you guys also......

If $40 is too much for the manual' date=' you don't even want to think about this swap...[/quote']
amen to that......JTR book was a bargain compared to the money i have spent......
-
the motor in question at tognottis is $6000. and it is complete with everything.

Davyz' date='
They look fantastic.
Are you going to intergrate armrests as well?
If so I'll take a pair.
Mike.[/quote']
i had made the same suggestion.. i think heavy consideration need to be given to adding armrests. it would be a shame to have these great looking door panels and have to add the very plain and unexciteing stock armrests. the provision for the tweeter should be up higher in the far upper corner opposite where the mirror would mount. would be easier for the end user to add his or her own surface mounted tweeter. i am very excited about the door panels and can't wait to get my hands on a pair for my 71 240Z.....thanks to all who are bringing this project closer to reality....
-
i got mine from john a few weeks ago. i have yet to install them. i am very impressed with how well they are made. i will post some pictures after i get them welded on....
-
you should try to integrate some type of armrest too

i got my taurus fan at a local pick n pull. first taurus i walked up to already had the radiator pulled and the fan was sitting on top of the engine. i compared it to another fan that was in another taurus to be sure it belonged to that model.. 20 bucks and a little luck and i was down the road.....

depends on what you need blasted? some places will do the whole car inside and out and primer the bare metal for under $1500
