  1. Desert Dog, Called the dismantler you linked to me - they swear they don't have those axles - Asked them twice to double check - nothing .

    thanks for trying!

They have them both listed here:

Sorry man, I thought I could help... I will keep my eyes open for ya.

  2. The supply of 300zx turbo cv axles seems to be dwindling - This presents a major problem - to anyone putting a R200 into an s30 chassis or s31t owners for that matter. Only two 29 spline stub axles fit the older - non vlsd - long nose R200 - the N/A six bolt ( three sets of 2 bolt holes outboard flange ) & the Turbo ( 4 bolt outboard flange ) the 6 bolt N/A cv axles are weaker & to long for a good swap - they would need to be shortened & new splines machined. Could be done - but the turbo CV's are a much better swap!

If I have any of this wrong - please correct!

DOES anybody know where all the 300ZX turbo CV axles are hiding?

    Nagaz - project stalled! :(

    This place has both sides...

  3. Seafoam cleans the combustion chambers really well. Most times deposits in the chambers makes the engine run rougher due to variation in combustion chamber size because of the deposits. Removing the deposits, which Seafoam does very well, makes the engine run smoother.

If you have a lot of deposits though, you can go through a couple of sets of spark plugs before it all clears out...

I use the stuff religiously in my 440 Power Wagon...

  4. The VG30DE is a very wide motor. The heads on it are huge to accomodate the 4 camshafts. It is wider than the distance between the strut towers in the engine compartment. You will have to do some modifications to the lower strut area just so the motor will slip into place with minimal drama...

It is also a heavy motor, outweighing the original L6 by about 100 lbs...

One other thing about the VG30DE. You must change the timing belt every 60000 miles. If you don't and it breaks, you will have one very expensive boat anchor...

Good luck on whatever you pick...

  5. OK, my two cents... I apologize for the earlier rant, but discospud is a ricer term in my book. Honda drivers use it all the time...:icon45:

GT28's are an upgrade from the modded T22's that are used in '90 to '96 Z32TT's. A lot of them have been installed on these cars.

The GT28 is a very nice size turbo for 1.5 liters displacement. They should easily boost to 20-22 PSI. Just make sure you have big intercooler capacity.

The other turbo that should work nicely is the PE1420 (Power Enterprises). A friend of mine has a shop in Jersey that can get you good prices on turbos of this size. His website:

  6. FYI, Carbed turbo motors are some of the most tempermental engines known to man.

You think you have the metering down on the carb, and a warm or cool day makes the engine run like crap. I cussed a turbocharged Camaro one time for a week trying to get it to not run lean in midrange.

FI makes turbo motors easy and basically troublefree, and run at or near stoich at cruise.

A carbureted turbo motor typcally runs rich at part throttle...

    Good luck,

    Mike

  7. If the engine is designed correctly or sufficiently, the side loads and friction related load are fractional compared to the force of the controlled explosion on the other side of the piston.

This is why rod length and piston skirt length dimensioning vs. deck height is critical for a free-revving engine.

And regarding mechanical interference (dropped valve, piston fragment) the first offset impact usually bends the rod.

  8. I Think That Part Is Over Priced, I Think Any Decent Fabricator Could Make One In No More Than 2 Hours I Know I Can At Least. The Other Desings Looked Much Better I THINK THE ONE FASTZCARS POSTED WOULD BE WORTH THE $250 THATS JUST ME

Well, let's see it... It is easy to brag on the 'net. Talk is way cheap. It is also easy to tear down someone's idea and still be clueless. Did you know your key is getting stuck?

    :lmao:

    qwik240z,

If I didn't already have an idea for a front mount for my R230, I would definitely be sending a PM.
