  1. Thats the only difference, the larger slit...the sensor is the same. Try out the acid trick it should work if done correctly. I thought about cutting it out, but the metal is so thin and the hole is very small...might be able to punch it out on a solid surface to minimize distortion. good luck
  2. Does your LT8 have a coil pack output harness? Grey/Red? Grey/Black? Grey/White? Or something similar? Maybe if you post your schematic it might be easiler to figure out.
  3. What is your ID Ref? It should be set to 6 and your TDC Ref should be set to +30. Mine were screwed up and never ran until I changed these settings. The white wire is only the signal wire you shouldn't need 12V to trigger the MSD right? I'll have to look at the schematic of the LT8. Keep track of your original settings...I'm basing things off my LT12 Might be hard to read the CAS signal unless you have an O-scope.
  4. My setup is a little different...I am running 6 coils off my LT12. I have a separate harness for the coils from the ECU. Does your fuel pump relay turn on when the motor is cranking? Are you getting power to the MSD? How are your triggering the MSD to fire?
  5. If I remember correctly the colors should match from the Microtech to the Dizzy. I got my setup running using the stock 1983 dizzy and I just swapped out the CAS wheel with one from a 300ZX. Did you get your Microtech from Microtech in Australia? They will make you harness match your setup. When the CAS is hooked up right the yellow light on the Microtech will flash as the motor turns over. Red = Power White = 6 slits Green = 360 slits Black is ground White is crank input# 1 Green is crank input # 2 I'm not familiar with the MSD setup...hope it helps a little
  6. I finally got my motor to run and man is it running good... the 555cc injectors were dumping to much fuel into the cylinders causing the motor to choke. I found the right setting and now the motor runs strong. If anyone needs help with an LT12 w/6coil setup let me know and i'll get the settings to you. Now I can get to tuning!!!
  7. ON3GO do you remember if your CAS needed a resistor wired into the sensors lines? I just want to double check my setup before I get my new coil.
  8. Well I found that the number five coil is no good as it started to heat up and burn...this can add to my troubles...I put the 300ZX CAS disk into my 280zx sensor. I removed the injectors and fuel rail as a whole and turned the motor over to see if the injectors were injecting. They work fine with no trouble...I will now turn my attention to the CAS, which seems to be my trouble. The 300ZX disk seems to work with the 280ZX sensor that I have. Once I get a new coil I will fire the motor up once again. I have my computer setting saved to a text file if anyone wants to look at it and see if there are any problems. Give me your email and I'll send it. Thanks for the input so far everyone, -Cole
  9. It has a yellow light that will flash for the RPM signal and the tach readout on the software does work. So I think the CAS is working...maybe just to much fuel with the 555cc Nismo injectors perhaps...not sure on how to reduce the duty cycle of the injectors yet.
  10. My brand new Garrett GT35R BB turbo was leaking oil into the downpipe and the turbine side...I have a restrictor on the inlet to limit the pressure, but I'm not sure if this is normal. Once I take it off and check things out I'll get back to starting the motor. Maybe the turbo needs to heat up to temperature to stop leaking. Let me know if that sounds normal. Thanks, Cole
  11. I have been changing it from 30-50psi.
  12. I may be getting to much fuel if I have to floor the throttle to get it to run.
  13. do you have the same coil setup on the green Z? If so did you route all of the coil lead signal wires to the negative side of the MSD setup? Does you CAS disk have 360 slits on the outer portion and six on the inner portion with one large slit?
  14. What size injectors are you running? I have 555cc Nismo injectors and I wonder if they are the problem. If you get the time would you be able to get me your settings? Such as if your running group fire or sequential? Are you running the six coil set? I'm mostly interested in the CAS settings. Any information would be helpful. Thanks, Cole
  15. Who is installing your computer? I am having major problems getting my LT12 to run my turbo L28 and am running 555cc injectors. Do your have their phone number? Thanks, Cole
  16. ON3GO did you install your Microtech System? If not who did and can I call them to help trouble shoot? The 300ZX guys told me the turbo and nonturbo distributors are the same. What may be the problem is the computer program. Who programed your computer? Someone in the states or Microtech? If I can compare my program with one that is running a 280 I may find my problem. Thanks, Cole
  17. I got the motor to run, but it runs like crap...It runs rough and shoots black smoke out of the exhaust. It acts like it's running on 3 cylinders. Does anyone have the engine settings on their Microtech that I can compare to mine. Maybe the program that is on it is incorrect. I have 555 Nismo injectors and Garret GT35R BB turbo, but it should still run better than this with the stock settings. I'm getting ready for a refund.
  18. I hooked my timing light up to the sytem, and got a signal from cylinder numbers 2,3,4 and none from 1,5,6. I'll hook up the plug wires to the ones not firing and turn the motor over to see if there is a spark. The CAS wheel in the distributor is from a 1985 300ZX with a positive and ground wire feeding inside...then there are two more wires white and green for the 360 slits and the six slits. The 280ZX turbo CAS has the same setup only the six slits are all the same. The 300ZX CAS wheel has one large slit to mark the number one piston and the rest are the same. What is the difference with the 300ZX turbo CAS??? Maybe the program Microtech sent me is not correct. It says Nissan 6 cylinder. Any help would be appreciated.
  19. I have a Microtech-LT-12 series and finished wiring in the 300zx distributor and went to start the car. It is only running on cylinders 2,3,4 and not firing 1,5,6. Does anyone have any ideas. The distributor I used was from a nonturbo 300zx, but that shouldn't matter.
  20. Hello, I was refered to you for help on my Microtech LT12 setup. I am getting spark with my 83turbo motor and crank angle sensor in the dizzy...but the spark is not sequential when the dizzy is physically turned. It only sparks on one plug or sometimes two plugs...Do I need the VG30 dizzy from a 300z? Any info you can get to me will be greatly appreciated. Frustrated in MA, USA Cole Bailey 508 904 0613
