ohh there is also a faint wine that gets highter or lower depending on the engine....kinda like what u hear in the speakers if the alternator is going out...but this sounded like it was from behind the dash

i have an 85 300zx with a digital dash... just recently when the engine gets past about 2 or 3 grand all of the idiot lights or sensor lights turn on...and so does the battery light. this happens sooner when there is more electrical load on the engine>> ie. when the headlights are on and the windows are being rolled up. and when the enging goes back to idle the lights fade out would it be a diode behind the dash that runs to the alternator? could it be the alternator itself? or am i just a redard ? hahaha any input is verry helpful!

relax dude, im just lookin at some options that i have, and some of us have limited resources.

i havnt worked on steering stuff in a long time....but ill manage to figure it out. So i could pick up some seals from my local nissan delear, and some boots. About how much do those cost?

The power steering rack on my 85 300zx leaks, ive looked around and hav'nt found anything and ive been wondering, 1. do i have to replace it with rebuilt or new 300zx rack and pinion? or 2. will another model rack fit? like a 200, 240, 280, maxima, stanza, etc........... ...and if so what year? thanks

um...im still a little new at this but one of my friends on the s12 forum says that the z31 and s12 rear suspentions are the same. i have also seen some info about shocks and such on www.z31.com. good luck, and if u find anything that works out let me know.

i could replace the rack...but im just lookin around to see if there is any stuff so i could remove some junk under the hood, cause its packed under there and would be nice to have some room.

im not really sure about who makes what, but www.thezstore.com has some springs, struts, and some stuff like that for from 1970z to the 350z.

its not that i dont like the z31 power steering. mine is leaking everywhere, and i figured that it might be nice to remove some pumps and other crap out of my way for other stuff. not only that but this rack i saw was in a yard that would be pretty cheap.

i saw a 70's z car in a yard that had a non power steering rack and pinion.....i was wondering if it is possible to swap that into my 85 300zx(power steering, rack and pinion)?
