any recomended brand for the 4 row radiator? i've been searching the net and this forum but can't find any radiator with 4 rows
Was looking around for you, but I can't seem to find one. Unless you go custom. PRC might be able to make one for you. Or You can get a PRC rad, and make sure you ceramic coat all of your exhaust system. The Z engine bay has very bad flow, and tends to get hot. The lower you can keep the under hood temp the better. You can also switch your fuel to methanol which will burn much cooler, and probably be cheaper where you live.
I'm also under the assumption that it get very hot where you live.

I see you've done a rear disk conversion. You didn't happen to install an adjustable proportioning valve did you?

No haven't done that. From what I've read the fluid requirement for the 240SX Calipers is very close to the stock drums that were there. But if I ever put in a set of BIG brakes in the rear I will have to do that.

Thanks Pat1. Guess I'll be ordering another one

There could be many things causing that. If you checked out everything already it could be that the rack is just OLD, and in need of a rebuild.
I got my rack from these guys

They where cheap and I got it on the 2nd day.
Installed it and it was like night & day. Just hope the accept my core since it was pretty shot up

The car is set up with stock suspension with custom 4" flare(which im thinking of increasing to a widebody 5-6") but thats later on.
I surprised you haven't changed over to coil-overs yet. You will gain more clearance. Since they take up significantly less space than the stock set up.

1 more note, during the install the M/C ran dry after I did the bench bleed. I redid the bleed in the car, but is it possible that I did it wrong, and that's what is causing this?

Here is another alternative, if you have the CA$H. http://www.arizonazcar.com/strassy.html
All you would need to do with this one is to rebuild the Q45 CV's with a shorter shaft.
Just saw this one on Ebay. Worth a look.

Another benefit of going to a coil-over set-up is that you will be able to fit a larger with wheel on the car. Since the coil-overs take up less space under the car.

Need some help with this one.
I have a 74 260z with a 79 280zx brake master, SS braided flex lines, and 240sx rear disk conversion. I upgraded to the ZX M/C in preparation for larger front calipers, but have not done that yet.
Here's my problem; the brake fluid is transferring from the front reservoir (rear brakes) to the rear(front brakes), and causing it to over flow. The rear brakes have been grabbing less, and less over the last 500 or so miles that I've driven it since the retro fit.
What could be causing the fluid to transfer?

I guess times must be tough. I remember when there would be a post every few min. Now it seems like a post every few days.

Hey thanks for the interest. I haven't done much due to being broke and jobless for quite a while now, but I just got hired full time and I start on Monday! So basically you might be seeing some updates soon
Good to hear you'll be starting a new gig. I was in the same situation Dec, and Nov wasn't much better. Just need to catch up on 1 or 2 more debts, and I can finally start my build. Good Luck on Monday.

Are there any clearance issues with the steering shaft?
-
How does the PRC Rad sit in the car? At 19" does it hang below the frame rail?
-
When replacing the floor pans you should look into welding in a sub frame connector. Like one from Bad Dog, or fab up your own. It's pretty simple to do.

They raped me back when I was building my motor. They charged me $500 for a plain Nissan gasket set for my rb26. I will never buy from them, or recommend them after that...
That's straight up Jailhouse Rape. I've always been one to pay a fair price, and if you've done all the leg work to come up with a combo of parts that work for a hybrid I'll give you a bit more. But there is a limit!

Motor mounts intercooler and radiator are all from mckinney motorsports.
Did they give you a break on the pricing? I've been looking at there site but it seems a bit pricey for some of there stuff.
-
Looks like that will be a great car to start with. How do the frame rails & floor pan look?
-
Looking good!!!!! Whats the specs on the Inter cooler. Length & Height, looks like a perfect fit.

Check out this install. Still a bit lost as to the 3 of the 4 vac taps on the bottom of the intake, but very good write up.

thanks for the info guys really big help. another problem is how many rows should i buy? the mechanic want to buy a radiator with 4 rows so that i can use a/c is this right?
In your climate I would go 4 row. It should fit, but your fan will need to be a pusher. (The fan mounts in front of the Rad.)

Just brought the car home tonight. Screwed my knee up too! Such is life.
Just wanted to add that my "Donor" was a rotted out POS not worth saving

When you say wiring harness the whole chasis harness or just the A/C harness if there is such a thing. I'm not running heat.
The A/C controls run through the chassis harness. I split the harness open and traced the wires from the controls to the A/C compressor. A good wire schematic is advised because some of the wires to connect to other systems.

I've actually taken the complete HVAC out of a 77 280z to put into my 260z. Although I've never had a chance to install it, I have been able to tinker with it. The "Box" in the dash is the same except for the provisions for the A/C piping. However it does use a diff heater control valve, and some of the controls are vacuum operated. I don't see why it wouldn't be able to work.
I would suggest that you get every part of the HVAC out of the donor car. Including the wiring harness.

So they cut the cross-member? They are doing a lot of extra work to mount the engine. Sounds like this is there first time doing an RB Z swap. For less than they're going to charge for all that extra metal work you could have given them a set of engine & tranny mounts from Mckinney Motorsport.
I would strongly suggest that you search this forum to see what other people have done. At this point so many people have done this swap that most of the R&D is already done. I would also let your mechanic know about this site.

So sad to hear about Ross. I've been off the forum for a few years while my project is on hold. Ross was a true Z enthusiast, and always willing to give advise and know-how. Truly a gentleman, and his early passing will be sorely missed.
