  1. wow thats awesome just ordered one! thanks for that link!
  2. I think they are actually heat activated vacuum sources for egr or other stuff I'm thinking about using my 82 thermostat housing my 82 throttle body, running distributor to intake Mani and should be fine cause those valves are hooked up to coolant sources that would heat it up and open for vacuum. Any confirmation? Thanks
  3. hey guys i tried to tackle replacing some cracked vacuum hoses today and this year has soooo many more then my 82 did and i was starting to replace some lines and some of the "valves?" broke one of the barbs off. Im wondering if i can just plug these lines on these "valves" and swap my 82 280zx throttle body on it to get rid of the lines on the bottom. Also can i just run the vacuum advance on the distributor straight to the intake manifold? What all can i get rid of on the manifold and still be able to drive the car around daily? thanks any help would be really great trying to get it back on the road for my daily while i finish my turbo motor build. Heres a valve of some sort right on the thermostat housing. It had 3 lines but one broke so it was taped up for now and the other 2 plugged. What exactly does this thing do and is it necessary for driving? It had lines leading and "t"ing into the distributor, throttle body and to another valve on top of the intake manifold which im not sure what it is either and plugged those too. its right next to something that the hard coolant line connects to. Heres that other valve on top of the intake manifold that 2 of the lines ran to It was next to and under the air regulator? but didnt seem connected to it it seemed connected to something the coolant hard line was connected to Heres the 1980 throttle body that has tons of little vacuum ports underneath that i want to swap out with my 82 to try to eliminate most of these cracked and mazed vacuum lines. i also noticed it doesnt have the top coolant passage that the 82 has which is fine one less thing to block off on the housing. The 82 Also got rid of one of the egr actuator things on the intake manifold and ran the hoses else wear. But the 80 has another hard line coming from the egr located in the back that i need to take off and plug. Thanks really just need some insight on people that have worked on the older motors b/c the 82-83 i've worked on was so much easier and less **** lol thanks!
  4. Hey guys I have an 82 turbo I'm in the middle of building and I'm looking to get an 80 non turbo 280zx as a daily and future shell for my turbo motor due to very minimum rust and issues. I havee an 83 n/a parts car I am wanting to use for parts on the 80 when I get it and need to know if it will all swap over?? I'm wanting to swap members for rack and pinion steering, rear brakes and calipers possibly knuckles, etc etc... Will all of it just swap over or are there actual differences in the shell?? Thanks let me know
  5. Ok awesome thanks guys and s30 do I also do simple algorithm like yours is?
  6. i've googled, looked on the megasquirt forum, and hybrid and cant seem to find a straight answer. i find answers with people running wideband with stock ecus keeping the stock o2 but what i want to know is when i get my standalone megasquirt 2 3.57 ecu am i able to just use the wideband as my o2 or am i going to have to run both? i know with the msa downpipe im going to have to plug the stock o2 bung and weld my new bung a little farther back for the wideband but just need to know if im going to have to run both since im going with a totally different ecu??? thanks
  7. sorry guys i have a p90a head. i think i found out what im going to do now thanks im just running 10 pounds right now for the break in and after ill be pushing 13 till i get a bigger turbo so all that should be good
  8. hey im in the middle of my overhaul for the motor and ecu stuff and only thing stopping me right now is pistons. im boring .30 over and want forged pistons. i called je and they wanted 1100 for a set and i know for sure i can get them cheaper then that but i was wondering if i run flat top forged pistons with a 1.5 or 2mm headgasket will my compression stay the same or raise/lower? ill be running about 10 pounds with innercooler and lots of supporting mods and tune. thanks
  9. ok so i messed with some of those inline fuses and relays and this is what happend. i knew i could take the ign inline fuses out but i cant take the other inline fuses out unless i rewire. the postivie terminal has two wires going to the box and its what powers up the inline fuses for the outside lights, inside lights, and radio. so i might as well keep those and just stuff those back into the fender and leave it at that unless someone has a better way for just wiring it up... also i took out the relays and headlamp sensor which on mine the book says the relays are 1)headlamp sensor (next to the stock relay box) 2)air-con relay 3)inhibitor relay (only on a/t) mines 5 speed 4)bulb check relay 5)fuel pump relay 3 6)fuel pump relay 2 7)lighting relay 8)horn relay(by inline fuses) not connected to the relay box 9)efi relay(by inline fuses) not connected to the relay box i took out all the relays in the box and the headlamp sensor and all my lights inside and out still worked along with the radio and dome light. even lights that didnt always work came on lol. so i know i can get rid of the box my thing is should i just cut it out? im never going back to the stock setup and even if i did i could pick one up out of a parts car. im going to be getting a new electrical harness for the inside as well since the previous owner hacked it up by taking out the alarm he had in it. but the out side one looks good. ill post pictures of what i did later on its busy at work and they block photobucket. thanks any info or pointers would be awesome
  10. I have a hard time reading wiring diagrams lol. Like i know the megasquirt will have its own ign/timing/fuel control and the relay board will have fuel pump rrlay along with others i need to look again. This is why i really wish someone would post pics of their megasquirt setup to see. But yea im a 5speed. Do any of those fusible links controll the lighting or horn in any way? Cause im sure the fuses in the car were for that stuff
  11. Oh wow nice so do i just get rid of that harness completely besides the lighting and internal electrical harness? Anything different with the fuse box? Sorry wiring scares me lol
  12. Yea ill probaby use the one i have if its easier to tune and set stuff up with then. Real quick question off topic... If im running a wideband would that take place of the o2 sensor or should i run both and where have yall put the CLT and IAT? thanks so much this is really clearing up a lot!
  13. I'm going to be getting a MSII and relay board and was wondering if these were needed at all. I know things like the horn relay might need to be kept but what about the ignition relay since it will be a totally new ecu with its own ign stuff?? heres what i am wondering if i can get rid of - The fusible links along with ign relay since i think the relay board comes with one -These Relays and another thing im wondering about is the ignition module???? thanks any info will be helpful i've searched for weeks and cant really find anything on this exactly thanks!
  14. so the top one will be fine with the plug built in not plugged in and the pigtail part wired into megasquirt??
  15. ok so a buddy of mine is a big 240sx fan and gave me one of his throttle bodies and tps sensors for free but i saw the tps on his throttle body in his car and its different and i think the one on his car is the one i need to run the megasquirt msII im going to be getting w/ relay board Heres the one i was given: It has the same plug style as the stock 280zx one but also has a pigtail and heres the one on his throttle body which is the one i think i need: Just need some clarification on this so i have one less thing to worry about with this wiring im about to tackle thanks
  16. exactly what the title says i need a working 82-83 turbo distributor with oil pump shaft, not the 81 with crank angle sensor. also i know the n/a distrbutor has the ign module built in, does the 82-83 have a ign module?? im going megasquirt since the previous owner did a turbo swap with n/a distributor, afm, and ecu and need to get an actual turbo distributor so i can finish my build the right way. thanks! Have paypal!
  17. awesome thats what i thought the one on the left side was and found out what the right one was in the book after i posted its just wierd the guy never had it hooked up to it. found no wires coming off the knock sensor :/ thanks!
  18. These are on the block and i've always wondered what they were. The one on the right side was never hooked up when i got the car if its something that needs to be hooked up. i have an 82 280zx with an 83 turbo motor. thanks
  19. alright cool yea i've got a nice intercooler just need the piping to get it in and i've been eyeballing the mega squirts for a while
  20. ok so i drive a 82 280zx turbo, p90a head, f54 block if you want to get more into it. i got a garrett clone t3/t4 to replace my blown stock t3 and i was wondering if im still pushing stock boost 6-8 pounds would i still need to upgrade the fuel/air system to compensate for the bigger turbo? i've got stock turbo injectors in now but i have fox body ones in a box, i also have a custom fuel rail, an adjustable fuel pressure regulator, and im getting a 3" downpipe made past the cat. would i be able to use the fox body injectors safetly with the bigger turbo or would it be too much fuel since i have no way to tune this yet. thanks
  21. ok cool yea im not trying to make a track car but just a nice reliable fun street car with some nice power. mid 300 if not a little higher would be happy with me. i just want to make sure if i want to go bigger i will already have some of the main components that i can tune like the big injectors and getting a port and polish job and porting the intake manifold and the exhaust manifold. but yea im still new to the z cars and new to internal work so im sorry if i dont make sense sometimes or just sound plain dumb lol. im learning thats why im on these sites i came from a subaru so i know a little but yea. i know if i want to make some serious power ill have to get into the block but for right now i just want to build on this for now and leave the block alone till i need to rebuild then some more fun will come.
