  1. My apologies guys, JT is right about our track being 60' short which I did not take into account. I thought the computer did the correction on the timeslip. I have emailed the local track about all this and what our projected true 1/8th mile would be. The track did answer a few of the logic questions I had, but they also invited me to the tower this Saturday to watch the computers to see how everything works and to ask questions. I look forward to the education since drag racing is still new to me. Definitley different mindset than road racing. Dave
  2. I do not have a pic at this time, but I will try to post tomorrow a pic of the spring.
  3. I will ask my friend who works for Nissan parts if he can find out anything. He knows a guy who works with the NISMO parts line who might be able to shed some light.
  4. I definitely do not want to change the topic of this thread, so getting back to the synchros - I have searched around and have not found much useful info on better synchros. Anyone else looked around?
  5. The car weighs 3225 lbs. One thing I will add is that when I reach the 1/8 mile finish line, I am just shifting into 3rd gear b/c of the high reving engine. I my opinion, this is what sets everything apart from the vg motor.
  6. Unless the timing equipment is wrong at our local dragstrip (mobile, AL) , i am looking at the timeslip right as i type. Reaction +.3138 needs improvement 60 ft - 1.6813 330 ft - 4.8321 1/8th - 7.1392 mph - 86.03
  7. Sorry about that, i posted elsewhere about my swap. It is the rb25det tranny. I am using the z32 tailpiece on the rb25 tranny. As for the internals, I set them side by side and counted the teeth on each gear. they are the same. I am using the speedo sensor from my z32 and the mph is dead on. the rb25 main shaft is almost 3" longer at the rear of the tranny. I had to put the z32 shifter rod into the rb25 tranny so that the z32 tail piece would fit on it.
  8. that's a good question Alex, b/c i still have a good set of guts sitting in my garage. Maybe there are better synchros for these trannies. I just have not thought about searching for them. Might search for them at work tomorrow - need something to do anyways - hehe
  9. i would have to agree with booztd 3. That is what caused my tranny failure last year. I could not do a fast shift from 1st to 2nd - just would not engage. anyway, I got it home and drained the fluid the next day and on the end of the magnetic bolt were about 4 of these springs. When I tore it down, i found about 5 more springs in the bottom of the case. This is actually what prompted me to go ahead and do the RB26 swap into my z32. BTW, i ran a 7.13 @ 86.03 MPH in the 1/8th this past Saturday. Not bad for stock set up and M/T et streets. David
  10. just saw this thread. I am the one who put a rb26 in the z32 and am in mobile, al. As far as the COG - the engine sits farther forward about 6.5" and sits a little lower overall in the car. the car actually weighs less with the rb26. As far as price, i got my motor for a steal. This swap may not be for everyone, but it is nice to be able to change the spark plugs in 15 minutes and to not worry about how many days it will take to change out the turbos. I am not knocking the vg engine, but i am a tall person and it was hard to work on that thing. I know a lot of people will argue about the performance of both engines and they are great, but my preference is the rb and its capability to pull very strong in the high rpm range.
  11. Nice swap RB26Z32.... I completed my RB26 swap into my Z32 earlier this year. Took it to SEZ this past September and had a blast with it. It was definitely an experience doing this swap. I definitely know the car inside and out. I agree with you about the traction problem. I am ordering some drag radials right after the new year to be ready for SEZ in march. Hope to see you at SEZ. David
  12. Thanks Garrett, missed you today at the import shootout in Montgomery. John took first place in the import street class (I think). He got a nice cash prize. As far as the firewall clearance, I did not have to cut it and it is a bit tight, but not much more than the vg30.
  13. clearance was not a issue with the steering linkage. The downpipe came fairly close with the flange but still had the vertical clearance for when the engine torques.
  14. I agree about hookup. I am working on getting some drag radials right now.
  15. I meant to say in my last post - be sure your kids are NOT around on some days.
