  1. Hello all, Someone stole the fuel cap off of my car last week, and I've had very little luck finding a locking gas cap to replace the standard one that was taken. Does anyone know of an alternative donor car to source one from? Any help is grealy appreciated, I apologize if this topic has been covered, but I have not been able to find it in my searches. Thank you for your time, HCS01
  2. Hello all, I have a pair of heater cores that I have never actually put to use. I was wondering if someone could help me by pointing out the more common points of failure in the heater cores from a 72 240. I have included pics below. The first three are from one core, with the rest from the other. Thanks for your time. P.S. the pics are a bit large.
  3. Hi everyone, I just picked up a pair of Cobra Imola seats for an exceptional price at Sube Sports. They have a couple different models of Cobra seats on clearance right now. If anyone is in the market, it is definitely worth looking into. I am not associated with Sube Sports in any way. I just found a good deal, and they are cool guys, so I wanted to pass it along. I hope this is in the right forum. If not, sorry about that. Peace Edited for formatting.
  4. Hello all, As the title says, I need to replace my windshield. I managed to crack it while removing it to replace the seal so I need a new one, fast. I live in San Diego, in case that matters. Also, I could use some suggestions on a shop to take it to so that I can have the chassis checked for straightness and corrected if necessary. Any help with either of these would be greatly appreciated. Thank you for your time.
  5. Hello all, First off, I hope I am posting this in the correct forum. If not, sorry about that. Second, If this has been answered already, just point me in the proper direction please. I tried looking, but failed miserably. As the title says, I am looking to find out how much POR I have to order so that I can cover the interior of my 1972, all of it. Thanks for your time
  6. This section of the project has been put on hold for a bit while I study for my CCNA exam. I do plan on taking the steering column cover from a 1985, as I don't thing the cover from a 1983 will fit without a bit of trim work.
  7. Here is a pic of the mounting section of the '85 multiswitch and shows what the piece that holds it in place. The second is a pic of what little work is needed on the steering column: --Edited to add resized pictures--
  8. Here is a copy of the page from the service manual. Each Headlight is originally on its own circuit. I only used one, when rewiring my 240. The other will most likely be used for driving lights. 1 = Turn Flasher 2 = Left (I think, test this and 3 before committing. I spliced bullet connectors onto the socket I cobbled for the turn signal connection) 3 = Right (see above) 5/8/11/26 = Power wires 6/9 = High beam signal 7/10 = Low beam signal 12 = Parking lights/dimmer 27 = I didn't use Aside from that, I used two small 4 pin female connectors in the original wiring that I used to fit the light controls. There is a flange around the wire side edge of all of these, so I shaved one side down that would mark the inside of each for a perfect fit. I found a small 3 pin female to use for the turn signal. If you have any questions, please ask... I hope this helps --Edited for punctuation--
  9. I forgot about this thread, and left it stagnant. Sorry about that. I do have some news though: 1) The multiswitch from a 1983 280zx will not fit. The internal diameter is too small to mount on a 1972 steering column. 2) The multiswitch from a 1984 - 1985 300ZX does fit. A small (.25" deep) indentation needs to be ground into the top of the steering column so that the multiswitch will be held in place when tightened. Pictures will soon follow. --Edited for clarification--
  10. Thanks for the info. I really appreciate it. Gonna give Wedge Engineering a call on Monday and see what they say. Thanks again, everyone
  11. Hello all, I am in the process of a more extensive upgrade than originally planed (1972, modded when I got it), and wanted to know if anyone is aware of any differences in seat mounting between a '72 240 and a '75 260. I found that Sparco makes a bracket for the '75, so i wanted to check with the people who would know best. I believe I saw a thread on this a while back, but my search-fu is lacking and I have not been able to find it again. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
  12. I have been looking into options and was wondering if anyone knows if the switches from a 85 300ZX(Z31), or a 1983 200SX will fit on the steering column of a 1972 240? I would hate to spend the money on the parts without knowing if it will fit. Thanks
  13. I am in the planning stages of rewiring a 72 Z. The PCB on the back of the windshield wiper switch is cracked, and my high beam switch no longer works. In short, would like to replace the switchgear attached to the steering column, and am looking to modernize. Any help or guidance to get me going in the right direction would be greatly appreciated. Thanks for your time
  14. First off, Thanks everyone. I really appreciate it. Yeah, it seems to work fine. I was just concerned with the gap between the engine and trans. The bolt holes in the plate attached to the engine and those in the mouth of the bell housing don't quite line up. I will do some digging around now that I have a better idea of what I am looking at. Thanks again for the help. CGSheen: Thank you for those pics
