  1. Found a couple more good pics of the Z sliding around at DD while surfing the web tonight... http://i36.photobucket.com/albums/e17/BBoate/DD33pic5.jpg http://i36.photobucket.com/albums/e17/BBoate/DD33pic4.jpg http://i36.photobucket.com/albums/e17/BBoate/DD33pic7.jpg http://i36.photobucket.com/albums/e17/BBoate/DD33pic8.jpg http://i36.photobucket.com/albums/e17/BBoate/DD33pic6.jpg
  2. yeah, I dented the rear driver's-side quarter pretty bad while getting intimate with one of the inside walls at Irwindale. It's at the body shop right now and I am currently debating over which color to go with when it gets repainted. What do you guys think? Part of me wants to keep it a nice white, but I also would think a nice dark blue, green, or red would look good. Thoughts?? And if you guys want to get out there and start sliding, but are worried about no experience, that's exactly the position I was in. Aside from some parking lot practice at my old job and some occasional intersection slides and canyon roads, I had never done any formal drifting. That's why events like Drift Day are so great... If I had wanted, I could have literally spent all day at the figure-8 skidpad. The guys at the events are all really cool and more than willing to help you out...
  3. Hey guys, Well while we're waiting for DriftZ240's pics/videos, here are a couple more pics from Drift Day 33. Not the best quality, but... http://i36.photobucket.com/albums/e17/BBoate/vlcsnap-4795744.png http://i36.photobucket.com/albums/e17/BBoate/vlcsnap-4795987.png http://i36.photobucket.com/albums/e17/BBoate/vlcsnap-4795918.png http://i36.photobucket.com/albums/e17/BBoate/vlcsnap-4795841.png Boate'
  4. Right now I am running with virtually stock suspension (tokico lowering springs), an sr putting down roughly 230whp, and a powerbrute 3.9 lsd. I definitely had enough power to get the back end out and keep it there at any speed with just a clutch kick and throttle modulation. The biggest problem I encountered was a lot of body roll, making transitions difficult - but that's where a roll cage and coilovers will make a huge difference. Other than that, it started understeering towards the end of the day as my front tires wore down, so I tried to compensate by feinting more and using the handbrake. I was very surprised by how long my back tires lasted though. I drove to the track with some already worn down Federal beater tires, and after a ridiculous amount of abuse, they still have tread! I would even use them for the beginning of the next event. My roommate is slacking with his camera, but I promise I'll have more pics and hopefully a short vid up soon.
  5. sorry for not giving some heads up. my life has been insane this past month and I haven't even been on hybridz for over a month (a sin, I know). Drift Day is putting on a "Z and G Day" in August though for 350z's and G35's, but I asked the organizer Naoki if he would accept an O.G. Z and he said that he would honor it, although the entrance will be a lil' more (since the 350 and G35 guys can prob. afford it). I would really like to go and would love to get some more s30 guys out there. Let me know!
  6. This past Sunday I participated in my first Drift Day at Irwindale Speedway in my srZ. It was a blast to practice endlessly in the figure-8 skidpad and then to go and run on the actual D1 course 20 or so times. Needless to say, I was the only s30 (or pre-1984 car for that matter) out there, but everyone gave a lot of support and kudos. Overall, it was the time of my life and I can't wait to get back out there. Here is one pic my friend took and as soon as my roommate gets his camera situated I should have more pics and video to share: Boate'

Well I'm eager to get out there in the car at any chance I get. Really had a lot of fun at the MSA auto-x event, so hopefully can run in some upcoming solo II's, and maybe some HPDE track days through NASA. Also wouldn't mind attending a Drift Day or two to try to throw her sideways a bit. It's always a treat getting to see your guys' cars and can't wait to see what you guys run in the new car. Have you run the silver car on the current set-up?? I need to get out there at some point to see what my car can do as well. Once again though, wanted to say that I love the car, and that guys at Vildini did an excellent job with it. Thanks!
  9. Hey everyone, Sooo....I have been lurking around this website for over 2 years now and finally decided that it was time to become a contributing member of this excellent forum. This website has provided me with invaluable information - from when I first knew that the Z-series Datsun was the car for me - to when it was time to finally buy a Z - to recently when looking into the best way to upgrade each system of my car - www.hybridz.org is quite possibly the best thing that has ever happened to me. So thanks to all you guys who have made my life infinitely easier, efficient and fun! This past January, I purchased a 240z from Projectrb240sx and since have fallen madly in love with my car. The car is a '72 with a '93 sr20det and currently is putting down 232whp and 213 lb/ft. It is insanely fun to drive as it is, and cannot wait to continue to tune the car. I am sure that Alex from Vildini can supply more info about the history of the car, as it was one of their firsts, but I am very proud to be both the driver of such a vehicle and a member of this forum. So thanks to everyone once again and I look foward to your insight and help in the future. Boate'
  10. Saw these wheels on a car at the MSA auto-x event and love how they look. Does anyone know what kind of wheels these are?? http://www.classiczcars.com/photopost/showphoto.php?photo=20123&cat=3314 http://www.classiczcars.com/photopost/showphoto.php?photo=20122&cat=3314
