  1. "....280Z has over 31 feet of vacuum hose associated with the fuel injection system." Wow. That would be annoying to try and find a leak in.
  2. Plenty of room in that engine bay, alot different than a VG30DETT I bet!! How much boost are you running? Any idea what the rwhp is ?
  3. Don't know why, but I can't get larger images from the thumbnails . . .

    Z31 mpg

Not to be too n00bish, but what is done exactly in a "proper tune"? Plugs, cap, wires, fuel filter, oil change? A/F tuning? How far do you have to go to get that?

What all have you done to your engine? What diff do you have? Very impressive milage!!
  6. Take lots of pictures, there is never enough!!
  7. Care to elaborate? I'd like to learn as many POV's as possible.

I actually got ~20% better milage on AZ gas than CA when I went on a trip this winter, 25->30. Lucky guys
  9. OP, how much are you going to pull from the car weight wise? Race seats, keeping the A/C - what all exactly? I get what you are getting at, easy 2.0L cruising, then crank up the boost when you want some fun. Best of luck with the swap!
  10. The 4L80E shares a very good portion of its components with the Turbo 400, most notable difference is the overdrive and electronic shifting. THe 4L60E is the electronic version of the 700R4. Correct me if I'm wrong, but imho the 4L60E would be plenty strong for a Z. http://www.hotrod.com/techarticles/gm_4l80e_automatic_transmission_review/ Picture of the 4L80E, 4L60 / 700R4, and Turbo 400, article on the 4L80E in hot rod applications.
  11. Anyone else get better than EPA gas mileage? My '85 Si Prelude is rated at 22/26, but it takes +alot+ of leadfooting to get it that low. 85mph on the highway for several days and I averaged 29.5 mpg.
  12. Feel sorry for the guy that had to sit in the back.
  13. Or the bondo will dry and crack.
  14. Very interesting! It wasn't specified, but the cast and steel cranks, would those be stock? I was under the impressin that the stock cranks wouldn't be strong enough, much like the rods and pistons.
  15. You can be partially at fault for giving the bird?? What kind of nonsense is that? That isn't a gun to their head making them go on a road rage run . . .
  16. I have to do that in my Prelude fairly often. Get a 3/4 ton truck behind me, may not be too close for a normal vehicle, but all I see behind me are the headlights. Was so bad once I could see my own silhouette in the shadow of my car. Nothing else but that though . . . Bummer with the a$$ hat driver, pretty tough situation to get out of.
  17. Hope the public defender can get the guy out of this, heck, what ""IF"" someone was being raped?
  18. Wow, that was one moving 510! That Camaro would pull away on the straits but didn't have what it took to keep ahead on those corners.
  19. The rear end is kinda funky - hatchback! no! fastback! no! coupe! no! whatever the heck Nissan was smoking when they did that rear end! YES!!
  20. I've seen some threads where LS engines that were in wrecks had the AC arm mount, iirc, get ranked really hard, cracking the block around the mounting point.
  21. Thanks for the comparison, it was what I was looking for. Someone who has owned both Have to say that I'd ideally prefere a targa MA70 turbo over a Z31 turbo, but they run 1.5-2 thousand more in the SF bay area, the only market of size. There are a few Z31 T's around for 1500-2500, and I might bite on one of those, depending on time and money. Never have both
