  2. HI, haven't been around a lot lately so I don't know if this has been brought up before. The people that bought the Arizona Z fiberglass molds are in business now. Here's their web site http://zfiberglass.com/ Hope this helps and is not old news. Staledale
  3. Thanks guys, I was just that my local surplus dealer and he carries transtar products. Was trying to read the sealer can but....... getting old. Thanks for the web site Erine, now I can read it. gotta give that a try, tintable, That will help on buffing thru. Erine, when is your book/video/ cd going to be done? I want to be on your list. THANKS GUYS Stale
  4. Thanks guys. I'm cross eyed from doing a search with RacerX and primer sealer as keywords. Do we pay you Erine? we should. But I must have been getting away with murder for a long time now. I have not been using a sealer! Guess I better stock up on some DP-LF little pricey but I use it for a base quite often. I do like the way it sprays. thanks again guys.
  5. I did it again, cleaning off the hood I noticed that I sanded thru the primer on the edge. 1/8 of an inch by 2 or 3 inches. What is a quick way of repairing that. I get anal and mix up two part primer (same as the whole hood) and use my touch-up gun. PITA for clean-up and a waste of paint with the two part paint. I tried rattle can primer but it left an edge around the bare spot about a month after I painted it. Is there a better, quicker, cleaner way to touch up the bare spot? I'm already to paint and I find these and it P.O. me. Hope RacerX book/video cames out soon.
  6. Hi Ernie, Will, I hand sanded with 600 and cleared it. Came out nice other than the swarm of gnats that landed after I was done. Like giant fly paper. At least they're on top. Mirka Abralon makes a 360 I'm going to try. Man does it leave a nice smooth finish. When I use the 1000,2000 and 4000 buffing is so easy. DamonZ, No there was no oil from the DA, It just leaves such a smooth surface you won't believe. Thanks for the input guys. Stale
  7. Here's a link http://forums.hybridz.org/showthread.php?t=105466 scoll down to Racerx, lots of info here
  8. Has anyone used MIRKA ABRALON sanding disc to prep for paint? I've used them for buffing out with 1000, 2000, then 4000 grit, but today I tried 500grit for preping a hood for clear coating. The hood had a lot of dirt in it so I DA it with the Abralon wet. There's not enough O's in smooooth to describe the finish. When I wet wiped it the water beaded up like there was wax on it. I wipe it down before with grease and wax remover and was told it has never been waxed since it was painted. Noticed that where I hand sanded with 600 the water didn't bead up. I chickened out and redid the whole hood with grease and wax remover and 600 grit, I'll paint tomorrow. Now I liked using the DA so much easier on the back but will it work for painting? They make it in a 320 grit also. Anyone have experience with Mirka Abralon for prep work? thanks Stale
  9. Took my 3 yr old grandson to see Cars, it's great, loved it. Lot of little details to look for like the bugs flying around the light are vw beetles with wings, mountains in the back ground are Cadillacs. Just a fun movie to watch. Go see it. It's fun. Stale

  11. Hi Al, I've been there a couple of times, are you taking your Z's? Think it's May 18/21. Seems to rain a lot and scare away the Z club. I'd love to see your cars so I'll make again this year. Gotta find where your hiding all that stuff.LOL Staledale
  12. Nice car Baracu, both of them. You seem to have a talent for clean engine compartments. What did you use for your trunk? It's nice and flat where most are humped. What part of Pa. are you in? I'm from the Altoona area. Again, nice work. Stale

  20. Guess it does look like wood grain. It's 1/4 plywood with 1x2 cut with the contour of back, covered with blue foam, covered with body putty. It is going to be a plug for a fiberglass mold, then I hope to pull a carbon fiber finished tail light panel off that. The pictures don't show how much of a compound curve that panel has, 3/4" top to bottom, 1 1/4" left to right.Oh yea, body putty eats into the blue foam a little. Got 91 corvette back up lights off E-Bay. When they come I start cutting in the license plate. Might raise it a little more. I'm trying to get the look of a Ferrari 360 back end. Stale
  21. Don't know if this is hyjacking a post but here's the back tail light panel I'm working on. http://album.hybridz.org/showphoto.php?photo=6444&cat=500 There is more Photos in my album of what I started with, and where I'm going. The car should have been sent to the scrap yard, but there is no rust on the floor or frame rails. The guy I got it from(for the Vella Rossa body), didn't read John Washingtons book on body prep.
