I wish, it sits under cover waiting for winter and time.

No change on trans for me, this one is all mounted with shifter and all. I just need to pull the engine again and work on getting the 2 to mount together properly. my adapter might need some extra block bolts among other things.

Waiting on time, money, etc... mostly time. Life happened. Still having issues with my adapter But I'm moving ahead slowly- working on piping, throttle cable is almost done, radiator pipes getting closer.... but I'm sitting here with a bum ankle The radiator is a 2 core griffin, needed reverse inlet/outlet.

Stock fire wall, coolant neck has to be cut down and a hose bead added to except a 1.5" tight 90 hose.

Slowly making some more progress...

Turned the hubs a bit to fit in the rotors, drilled rotors, made caliper bracket. Lots of different brake lines will work, 240SX etc. To be more correct their 99 Camaro brakes, same as the vette but cheaper... much cheaper. $75 per caliper (including bracket, reman), $30 per rotor. $210 HD 12" brakes. The calipers are aluminum and have lots of friction area. Pad choice is great. I'll post the .DXF file of the bracket I made. I made my bracket out of 3/8 steel. 1" OD x 1/2" ID x 7/8" tall bushings are required to space the caliper properly.

Doing my budget corvette (gm anyhow) brakes and finishing the trans crossmember.... big vented rotors and twin piston aluminum calipers. I could do 12.75" rotors but they might not fit behind 16" wheels (going to run 16x8 sport max panasport esk wheels).

There's no advantage for this swap (vs. VQ), just happened to have all the parts laying around... I like the iron block, good for boost. Not to mention the SHO has a completely different tone compared to the VQ. Oh well, its not like dropping a iron head 305 SBC... I'm sure the weight will be worth the power.

Correct, I already lopped 1.5" off a spare pan and added large kickouts on each side of the sump....I'll do some kind of baffle or swinging door setup to keep slosh down. Amazing that hunk of a 6spd fits in there with reasonable clearance.
-
I just checked hood clearance, with a 1/2" spacer under the intake I have 3/8 min clearance (modeling clay). the pan is getting kick outs on each side. Shifter will be easy to make work retaining stock location. I flipped the rear surge tank over and it clears the stock hood latch I'm going to mod a 350 CM flywheel for the SHO pattern and hub size. Its coming along nicely, no downsides yet.

A WC T5 should hold up to what I have planned but right now its the more $$$ route. I have the parts to use this 6spd, it just requires a bit of work. If it was easy I guess it wouldn't be fun. THe WC T5 is the backup plan.

Never mind on the 3.0L Ranger trans, none have removable bell housings... So the Aerostar is definitely IT. I did hit a little snag on my adapter... the starter bolt go in from the wrong side. BUT there does seem like there is still hope even if I have to use an aftermarket mini starter. It would be nice to get it mounted on the passenger side. WORSE case I'll have to pull back the trans to change starters. MUST ACCOMPLISH... MUST have 6 gears

Adapting a 350Z 6spd mainly because I have one. Here's the engine I salvaged :chacha: Spent last night measuring my bellhousings for my adapter, having a junk VQ35DE block (what bolts to the 350Z 6 speed) is handy. Its the japanesse T56 M/L but alot more common. Also I'll be converting it to a top mounted shifter (like a truck) because the factory one would be behind the driver seat . I did discover the 3.0L Ranger bellhousing will mate to a T5 type trans but I'm set on the nissan box... even the nissan pilot bearing is the right size for the crank.

Just savaged a spare SHO pan from the scrap bin... I might need to move my drains as well, maybe not. Sounds like modding the cam cover is sounding better to avoid having to lop a ton off the pan. Open cam covers would be neat if I could kept the crank sensor from getting crap in it. Maybe its time for my first dry sump I guarantee this one will happen one way or the other. Also I have the 3.2L Auto engine of which the pan maybe a little different. I remember something about the automatic's engine postion being a little different.

Those definitely help! Thanks alot. Turning around the intake should help the cause a bit. She's going to suckup some room but its the price you pay for a DOHC V6. If you ever visit Coos Bay let me know. I see a side kicked out sumped pan in my future... and a shortened oil pickup. Glad I'm only running the water pump and alternator.

I was thinking about the project section as soon as I posted this ... I already have the perfect intercooler set aside, same core I donated to Jeremy for the pinks Z I've been a lurker here for a while. I seem to have a ton of nissan projects.

Just picked up a 71 240Z today (needs some resto but its straight and rust/dent free) that will be getting my built TT SHO engine from my old Probe . I've been looking for a good home for my engine since I'm disgusted with my old probe... I've had it for over 10 years and it just rots in my driveway since I refuse to drive a FWD peg leg mobile. But before I parked it I did a FULL build on the SHO engine, Large T28 turbos, etc. The intake will be turned around and installed waaaay back on the S30. THe engine was already setup and tuned on a Haltech E6X so a nice fresh harness will have it running in no time. Thought I'd share... We'll be starting on it this winter.
