  1. To the top.... REALLY need bolts to put stuff together.... need any hardware for fender and hood installation. Also in desperate need of door hinges, strikers, etc to get the doors on.
  2. It's a little too purple for me, I was told its called blurple. It probably looks a lot nicer in the pics since its up against primer, undercoating, and rust!! HAHA.
  3. Great work!! It's nice to see your attention to detail, especially with the suspension.
  4. It's a 76. Thanks for the heads up, I updated my original post. Would you have pics of the doors? I am looking for very very little rust.
  5. Here is what I'm looking for. I am near Pittsburgh, PA so local would be better for the big stuff. Here's what I need 1. All your random nuts and bolts you don't need! I have just about nothing from when I got the chassis! I don't want to spend much on these, help a z guy out! 2. L/R Door hinges along with strikers 3. L/R access doors near hood 4. Gas Door 5. Hatch with little to no rust (don't want to pay shipping on that thing) 6. Spare tire well (not hacked up) I'm sure there will be more... the car is gutted.
  6. I'm still undecided on the drivetrain, but I'm leaning toward the RB25DET. I thought about the SR20, but I think I want to stick with 6cyl. I'm also planning to retain the A/C. Suspension will be coilovers and konis most likely. I want this to be a car my wife and I can take out on the weekends COMFORTABLY. I want it to be quick, but speed is going to be secondary to comfort. I won't be able to slam it on stiff springs, but I want it lowered a bit but still soft over the bumps. I'll also be using undercoating and dynamat in the cabin to help deaden the noise. Other stuff-- I'll be doing fender flares with 16x9.5 or 17x9.5 in the rear and I'm not sure yet about the front. Wheels will be some mesh style. It will be painted a dark metallic gray, and I'm leaning towards a toyota color, Shadow Mica. Definitely doing the rear disc conversion, and upgrading to the 4 piston calipers up front. Every bit of the suspension will be restored/replaced... that's all I know so far!!
  7. Well, I'm finally starting to acquire parts for my build. I'll update this as often as I can, but I'm estimating about 3 years to get this thing done. So far I've gotten all the major body pieces except for the hatch. The body is solid with minimal surface rust in the cabin and a few weak spots on the rockers and near the passenger quarter glass. You can see the engine was already redone by the previous owner (he was a member here at one point). It was VERY well prepped! As for the rest of the car, I'm getting ready to have the body prepped. I picked up fenders this week. Got both fenders with original emblems, headlight buckets, side markers, along with a center console and taillights for $60!!!! it was a deal! Anyway, here are the pics... i'll post more as I make progress.
  8. I'm starting to gather parts I'll need for the project. I want to get all the body panels test fitted before I go any further. Parts needed are for a 76 280z: -Both L/R door hinges -Both L/R fenders (must be good condition with no filler) -Both L/R head light shrouds (bucket) -Rear hatch with or without glass (I have glass if needed) -Taillight trim (the black bezel around the actual lights) Let me know what you've got... obviously local is better! otherwise, we'd be shipping to 15601
  9. Thanks I'll take a look at the rails.... I have been doing some digging around and have a pretty good idea of what I'm looking for now. I did find one for around $800 that was already blasted and primed but it was down in Florida. I wouldn't mind spending up to a $1000 if its in better condition.
  10. Looking for a rolling 240z/260z chassis with minimal rust, prefer early 70s. I plan to have it gutted and blasted, so if there is some body work need (ie floor boards) I'm ok with that. I'm near pittsburgh and looking to spend around $500 for the chassis. jdbrocious at hotmail dot com
  11. I was aware of that forum... but I thought it was more appropriate here since I had a specific question... Mod please move if you feel otherwise.
  12. After being without a fun project car for the last 5+ years, I've decided to get back into it. In my high school and college days I built many hondas (none of that rice boy crap for me if you are wondering). I've decided a 240z would be a great platform and it has always been one of those cars that I just loved the lines. Now that I have a garage and all my tools in one place, I can have fun again. Most importantly the wife really likes them also! Anyway, I did come across a 74 240z that is a manual... Its been sitting for awhile but the owner said it did run when it was parked. At first glance, the body looks ok with no evident damage or heavy rust. He said best offer, so I'm going to offer $500 if the rust is moderate. Any rust areas I should look for/avoid that are specific to these cars??? I'm alright with floor pans being a bit rotted, but was going to stay away from frame rail rust. I plan to strip it down to the bare chassis and have it blasted, then start fresh. SR20DET swap looks mighty nice...Gunmetal Gray Exterior, with solid black interior... wheels/suspension/brakes TBD... I'm going to have a hell of a time deciding on body pieces.
