  1. Hello Ron; Yes I would be willing to sell one or two 428 blocks. 428 blocks $300 428SCJ compete $5,500 427 complete $8,000
  2. I know the r180 and R200 are not going to survive in a 10 second Z. what differential are they using? How difficult is it to install?
  3. It would be interesting to know who has the fastest and who has the quickest V8 datsun. I have seen a 240Z (sbc) from Chico California run 9.75 seconds in the quarter mile at Redding Drag strip. My 240Z (sbc) averaged 161 mph at the Silverstate Race in Nevada, timed by a radar gun. I am sure that there are faster and quicker cars out there, but how fast and how quick, and who owns them?
  4. I have one 240Z that has a ZZ3 engine in it and has been taken to the Silver State Race in Nevada a couple of times. The other 240Z was what I wanted to put one of my 428's or 427 in. I do not know how to post a picture of my car or I would. I will try to email you a picture of the one with the ZZ3 in it. Maxtor
  5. When I built my 240Z, the ZZ3 engine was my choice. At that time I could not find long tube headers, so I purchased the shorty headers. They are 1.5 inches diameter. Does someone make and sell 1.75 inch diameter long tube headers that clear the TH700R4 trans? Thanks
  6. I've measured and re-measured and my Ford FE 427 nor 428 is going to fit my 240Z without bringing out the torch. I do not want to cut up the car, so i am going to purchase a 1992 mustang and put the 428scj in it. It already has the 8.8 posi differential, and will accept the FE engine without cutting. It is a shame, because I wanted a 660 hp Ford 240Z.
  7. They do make a rear sump pan for the FE. I would think that the hard part would be getting the headers to pass by the steering shaft. My 428SCJ has been built up to 660 hp. I have not had the torque checked. The 427 is stock at 425 hp. I have been playing around with the FE engines for many years, and I really do not think the R200 would make it past the first run. I have twisted 28 spline axles in half with a moderately built 428. Thank you all for the information. I might just try to get it to fit, but probably the headers will have to be custom made, with some sharp bends. I do not want to hack on the body unless absolutely necessary. Thanks again Maxtor
  8. Has anyone done this install on a 240Z? I have a ZZ3 engine in it now, with stock R200. It works great on a road course, but spins one wheel bad at the drags. So far nothing has broken, but if I ever get traction, bad things could happen. I have an idea about building a frame with a narrowed 9", install my 427 Ford engine and C6 trans, then hang the 240Z sheetmetal on it. Sounds expensive and time consuming. Might as well buy a Cobra kit and be done with it. Someone needs to produce a kit to hang a 9" Ford rearend for the 240Z, and that would open up options for increased horsepower.
  9. Has anyone put a FE engine in a 240Z? I have one 427 and five 428's that have to go into something. I have a 240Z, C6 trans, 4spd. toploader and 9" Ford differential. If only it would fit. I know that the R180 and R200 differentials would last about 1/2 a second with either engine, so how difficult is it to install a 9" ford posi rear end?
  10. I have a 73 240Z with a ZZ3 engine, TH700R4 trans, and R200 diff. I have raced it at the Silverstate Challenge, and now want to do some drag racing. It does not have posi, it is a 3.50 ratio. I am worried that if I put drag slicks on it, it might break the half shafts or differential. Plus without posi, it is not going to hook up very well. What do most of you do to remedy this problem? Thanks Maxtor
