  1. I'm running 16 X 8's (0 offset) all around on my 71' Z and they fit just fine w/ the Toyota 4 piston calipers..they look great too!

    Looks good B)

Do the XXR 513 wheels require centering rings on a s30? And what size in that case?

I have centered them on my car only with the lug nuts, but I haven't driven the car that much yet so I'm wondering if there will be problems without centering rings.

  2. I installed Tokico HP shocks and springs on my stock 240Z -70. They were bought a couple of years ago, and been waiting for this project.

The rear (non-progressive) springs are fine, but I have the same situation with the front (progressive) springs as mentioned earlier in this topic. Can I use them or should I buy a set of other springs?

Ok, I read the topic again. Should have read more carefully the first time, sorry  So it's normal that the first coils on progressive springs are compressed.

  3. I know for a fact that the rims will fit with both the vented and non vented toyota brake kits.

As for the your tire fitment question i can't say for sure. Maybe somone can chime in here.

I would go to your local tire store and have them install one of each tire. then you can see if they rub or not.

Thank you for the information regarding the brakes :)

Yes, testing both tires would probably be the safest way to know. I'll just have to get the suspension first installed.

  4. I have to ask about the XXR 513 wheels (16x8, 0 offset). Is there any clearance issues with them if I use the Toyota brakecalipers for solid discs on my 240Z?

My second question is about the tires. I know this has been discussed a lot, but I didn't manage to find an answer to my question. I have Tokico blues / Tokico springs kit for the car (not installed yet), will I be able to use 225/45/16 tires or would 215/45/16 be better? Before the car was painted I had the fender lips rolled just a little.

  5. Thanks for the help. I'll start the project in a month or so and I'll take a look at the parts I've got and ask more questions if I can't figure out how to complete the swap.

As blairjj asked, which Hurst shifter did you use Mike C?

Anyone, does the speedo cable from an early 240Z fit the 280ZXT T5?

  6. I've been searching and reading old topics about the s130 T5-swap into a early 240Z:s. I feel I still need to make some questions, I hope these things haven't been covered too many times earlier

If I've understood it correctly, these things needs to be considered:

    - the driveshaft will need to be changed (becouse the early 4-speed drivershaft is different). I'll also use a moustache bar from a later model s30 to move the R180 diff.

    - the trans mount has to be changed somehow so the T5 will fit.

    - probably need to cut the opening in the transmission tunnel, for the shifter.

I would like to know what else do I need to know before this swap?

The car will have an L26 swapped at the same time. Will I have any issues with the clutch? Will the speedo cable fit in the T5 or do I need a different one? Anything else I've missed?

  7. I have zero experience about turbo-engines so I to have ask this newbie-question

I've been reading most of the carbed turbo -topics here, but I would still like to ask what the biggest issues are about dailydriving a L-engine with triple carbs (e.g. Webers) and blowthrough turbo + intercooler?

I've always liked the looks and the sound on these old-school setups, so I would really like to have one some day. Just a bit scared about all the warnings how difficult they are to keep in good condition. Are they really difficult to work with and is there any particular books or websites that should be read before starting such a project?

Sorry if I've have asked questions that have already been answered here before
