  1. I have seen this car in a sportscar magazine a couple of years ago. I have to check if I still got the magazine. I think there was a 4-page story about the car.

The rear fenders are from a Porche.

  2. I believe that the main problem is with the clutch and the flywheel. I haven't ruled out the clutch yet. The R200 diff is OK, I am sure about it. But as you say one problem could be that the diff nose strap ain't OK. I believe I have to look at that first and then repair the clutch and flywheel.

I saw that Motorsport Auto is selling Steel solid diff mounts. Do they fit the R200? And how much do it effect on the driving? What could be the price?

  3. I've got to make a stupid question here.

Why does the rear wheels start "jumping" in my car when I put on reverse and try to move the car slowly. At the same time there is some "metallic" noice near the diff, but I think it is the diff which jumps so it contacts the exhaustpipe. I know that the diff is OK, becouse I swapped it from a R180 to an R200 a couple of weeks then. Is it the same problem as the problem discussed in here? icon_confused.gif Or do I have a problem with the gearbox and the clutch?

    My car is a 240Z -72 with a Ford 302 + B&W T10 and the diff is R200 from a 260Z.

  4. Thanks guys icon_smile.gif

The engine is from a ´65 Mustang (289 block). It is 030 oversize and has a stiffer cam shaft. The carburator is a Weber.

The car has been in a old barn for several years. I heard some rumors about the car and that it was for sale. So, I called the guy A.S.A.P. The car was totally covered with dust and dirt. It was like to find a tresure!

I have worked with a lot of electrical problems, changed the diff from R180 to R200 (the old diff was totally busted!), cleaning the interior, body and engine, installed the electrical fans... My intensions are to paint the body this winter, upgrade the brakes and hopefully change to a T5 (the diff is 3.7:1).

I have only tested the car a couple of times. At the moment the car is in very many parts icon_wink.gif It is good to have something to do when it gets -30 celsius grades outside icon_wink.gif

  5. I promised to put some pictures of my Z on the web. If you are interested in seeing a Z+V8 from Finland, check this link: http://www.sunpoint.net/~zkerho

Go to the Galleria-part a choose 240Z-280Z. There you should find pictures of a black 240Z with a 289/302 Ford. I have a T10 gearbox, but I want to install a T5. The engine is old, but works. The car is lowered and has a stiffer suspension.

Z-cars are pretty rare in Finland and it is almoust impossible to find information of Z+V8 here. HybridZ has been a great place for information for me. Thanks guys!

    Take care,

  6. To Owen,

Yes, we have the whole website in Finnish but we will make an English version of them in the near future. Under "Tapahtumat" (=Meetings) you find our first meeting last summer. We will have a new meeting in next summer, and are expecting about 30 Datsuns / Nissans. I will put a link to some pictures of my car in next week here.

    To Mikelly,

OK, I will contact Mike Gibson about the brake upgrade kits. Thanks for the advice icon_smile.gif

  7. OK, I think that I will not buy those 300ZX -88 brakes. The original brakes in my 240Z works fine at the moment. I will wait ´till I can buy a real upgrade kit. Where can I buy / order brake upgrade kits? I live in Finland so it is kind of hard to find parts here to the Z.

PS Check out our Datsun Nissan Sportscar club of Finland -webpage: http://www.sunpoint.net/~zkerho

It is still under construction, but we have about 50 members already. My own car will come to the pages in next week.

  8. I got almost the same problem as Nick. I have a ´72 240Z + Ford 302 and I would like to upgrade the brakes. I have a friend who could sell the 300ZX T -88 (Z31) brakes cheap. Is it possible to fit those brakes in to my car? icon_confused.gif

Or is it easier to take the brakes from some other car and put them in the 240Z?

  9. So, now I have a new question about gearboxes. An another friend to me has a 302 with T10 gearbox to sell. Could this manual 4 gearbox fit into my 289/302 Ford engine? icon_redface.gif

The differential in my 240Z will be a R200. The ratio is at the moment 3.9, but it will be about 3,6 - 3,7. Can I drive with a 4-speed gearbox in the car, or should I have a T5? The only problem with a T5 is that it is really hard to find a gearbox like that in Finland. And if you find one, it will cost about the same as the car did icon_sad.gif

  10. I wonder if it is possible to use the Nissan 300ZX -88 gearbox instead of Borg-Warner manual 4. I have a Ford 302 engine at this moment in my 240Z -71, but the gearbox is not in good shape anymore. My friend has a 300ZX gearbox to sell. I would like to install a Borg-Warner T5, but if the Nissan gearbox can be swapped with the Ford gearbox, it will be cheaper. Sorry for my bad english, I come from Finland, Europe.
