  1. If the donor car is junk, just take a sawzall to the front clip. Otherwise, the bottom is the easiest. (REMEMBER: take either the clutch master, or the slave off before pulling the engine!!! don't ask me how I know!) Tim
  2. I guess I was wayyyy out in left field, as I was referring to this one:
  3. No, I wouldn't say "stupid", but rather slightly "mentally lost"....
  4. I was being sarcastic! Hence the row of smilies...
  5. My 6 year old boy 'took' me to see it. I was pumped to see it, but I was disappointed. I get the whole Doc Holiday analogy, but I found the movie terribly slow paced and lacking in any real action.....I enjoyed it for the little nuances as were mentioned above, but what a yawn! ....and OMFG....how quickly would Lightening's clutch have burned out trying to pull that asphalt spreader....I mean really! :D
  6. try this: http://www.opelgt.com/forums/attachments/4a-differential/4313-different-gear-ratio-our-gts-bm.jpg?d=1105206508
  7. When I was looking for a rear end conversion for the Opel GT (also a very narrow car), there were very few options, but the mid 80s BWM 3 series was one of them. Might be worth a look. There were some good ratios and also some had LSD from the factory, and rear disk brakes. Tim
  8. Those GTV-6 Alfa were the thing to beat back in the home country in the late 70's, early 80's! Very fast, very good handling cars!
  9. Sorry, don't know about asphalt. Since asphalt is hydrocarbon based anyways, I would imagine that powerwashing with a strong detergent should be good. Try asking/searching here: http://www.garagejournal.com/forum/
  10. Once oil has soaked into the concrete you will never get it back up. You can try carb cleaner. Tim
  11. Yeah, just use the side of the stone and use a light twist and roll motion. Do lots of swipes at low pressure instead of trying to get it in one shot. Tim
  12. I have some of the old photos from the AZ Z car website and the fronts look like their kit.....I would assume that the rears are also, but I cannot tell for sure. Tim
  13. I have it posted in the classifieds and I should not be posting the link here (esp. as an Admin), but I need these things gone! http://classifieds.hybridz.org/showproduct.php?product=2532&cat=18 They were actually part of the deal when I sold my Z, but the car hauler would not allow loose items in the shipment, and it would cost $500+ to ship to the new owner on the right coast. So, I am selling them for him. Obviously shipping is bulky, difficult and expensive, so local is better. Tim
  14. Yup, this was a Desert car all it's life. I bought it from a guy in Phalen, near Adelanto and Victorville for you SoCal guys. Yeah, you are right....the car is positively cavernous inside....it is really neat driving these old cars.....it is just such a different style altogether.... Tim
  15. Thanks for the offer man!! Not a lot that I need, but I am keeping my eye open for one of the indian head light up hood ornaments, and I need to find a good hydramatic tranny in case this one is duff..... I DO need to find a set of the plastic panels that wrap around the bottom/sides of the front bench seat... Don't go out of your way, but if you happen upon them, let me know.... Thanks, Tim
  16. For now stock restoration....but if the drivetrain gives me ANY problems, I have a 357TT that needs a home! I got a great deal on the paint and body work. There was ripples in the roof, a pretty big ding in the rear tail light area and several dents and dings. They took it down to bare metal, sealed and fixed all the body panels and painted.....for $3k. I just need to finish painting all the stuff that needs to be black in the front.
  17. 1955 Pontiac Chieftain 4 door. 287ci V8 (all cast iron), with Hydromatic transmission (4-speed - again, all cast iron). Complete and running. Just got her back from the bodyshop. Here are some photos in chronological order, from the pictures provided by the seller, to the strip down for body and paint to returning from paint jail. I have had all the chrome re-plated and is all ready to bolt on:
  18. The Vette is a factory commemorative edition special order car. They actually look nice when viewing up close and personal...
  19. According to KBB, the only V6 offered was the 3.3L, so I'm pretty sure that is it. Guy, what part of the head gasket leaks? Is it coolant leak external, or coolant internal into the combustion chamber, or is it combustion leak? Thanks for the info. Tim
  20. I am looking to buy a small SUV for towing the Karts to the track and for the Missus to use when she needs to haul the kid and his friends around (6 year olds). She has a 05 Focus, so not much room. I have my 71 Cheyenne 20 which is great and I will never sell it, but it is a bit cramped for the 3 of us going to the track (70 mile one way trip). I found what looks to be a good deal on a 1998 Nissan pathfinder. 2WD, SE trim with 55K miles on it. Owner claims to be moving to NY. I have yet to see the car. Asking $7900.00. From what I can gather, they are good vehicles, but do any of you guys have 1st hand experience with them? Good, bad, indifferent? Thanks, Tim
