About Me

Well to begin I am NOT a follow the crowd sort of person. I prefer to dance to my own music so to speak. I fell in love with the 240Z when in 7th grade a school teacher in my neighborhood bought the first 240Z I ever saw on the street. "MAN is that a sweet machine", I thought to myself. I actually rode in one for the first time when I was in North Dakota in the Air Force back in the early 80's but it was a rodded out 260Z with sidewinders and the single ugliest paint job I had ever seen and it was a 2+2. Well I wasn't impressed. The first Z car I drove was a 1983 280ZX when I moved to Florida and got a job at a neighborhood garage. I was really hooked after that day. The car felt right around me with plenty of head room, leg room etc. I am 6'2" so that was the acid test for me. No excess interior anywhere and everything was right where it needed to be. I bought my first Z in the summer of 1984, a 1982 ZX T-tops and the really nice interior burgundy in color. I was in over my head in monthly payments so the REPO MAN came to get it in the middle of the night about 15 months later. I was crushed but I learned one thing from that experience, "Never be a slave to car payments". The next one I bought was in 1988 a 1981 ZX ironically it was about to be reposessed. It still sits in my driveway albeit just about completely taken apart. I have owned 4 S30's and by far it is my favorite. 2 of them were parts hogs and I still have the other 2. VIN 6333 built in June 1970 is my AVATAR. I need a new main harness for that one as it had an inadvertant BBQ one night. It will get some TLC when Project 3/72 goes to the paint booth. The simplicity on the S30 is the most attractive thing about it which is why they are and were so popular. I'm currently working on a full restoration of VIN 74762 built in March of 1972. If you see me make reference to "Project 3/72" you will know what it means. I will post pics of the progress. I'm currently in the process of stripping the finish inside and out. The original color was the factory orange which I never cared for and at some point in it's life it was painted RED and not very well might I add. I have about 2 or 3 more weeks of sandblasting as of this writing. The suspension and steering is still attached for the purposes of getting it in and out of the garage but as soon as I am finished sand blasting the bottom the suspension will come off as well. I'm planning a 3.1 stroker built by Dave Rebello and Arizona ZCAR suspension and brakes. The car is still 2 to 3 years from completion but I'm in no hurry. I am using a really good anti-corrosive on the chassis immediately after I sandblast very similar to POR-15. No more rust ever. All the seams will be filled as an extra layer of moisture protection. The next big out of pocket expense is a Lincoln welder with Co2 assist. I am planning to have it ready to paint by TAX time 2012, fingers crossed. Well that's it for now but watch this space!
