  1. i was thinking about using caliper paint, i have some gold left over form a friends project but i wanted that real mellow (oem if possible) gold, i also don't know if i should throw a clear on it,
  2. so i purchased a set of black painted z rims for datsun but i wanted to renew them to the original aluminum/gold face, so i was planning on wet sandign the rims this weekend but don't know where to find that flat golden color that came on it originally to accent the edges and center of each spoke, something like this...http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/14-DATSUN-280Z-Wheels-ORIGINAL-240Z-RIMS-260Z_W0QQitemZ280320575376QQcmdZViewItemQQptZMotors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories?hash=item280320575376&_trksid=p4506.c0.m245&_trkparms=72%3A317|65%3A12|39%3A1|240%3A1318
  3. whoa you guys are scarring me here, i see what you mean about the bearing protecting that side of the cap, and now im questioning why he never mentioned the actual bearing being there, he showed me main cap (in which i made the mistake of calling a bearing) but he never showed or even mentioned the actual bearings. im going to have to go see it again and take pictures, thanks for the replies btw- the onyl noise i had was the cracked first header that made a irregular bursts , but i never heard that knocking noise so i doubt i spun a bearing. I LOVE THIS FORUM! lol
  4. Yeah The Main Bearings Are Easy To Find But What I Meant Were The Pieces At The Bottom Of The Picture, To Be More Specific, The Big Block Of Aluminum Where The Main Bearings Go Flush Inside. (in Other Words The First Piece Right Over The Number 3) Lol. Thanks Again.
  5. oh and of course thanks for the replies in advance!
  6. after taking a little look and cleaning out the crank shaft of my 1977 280z my mechanic showed me the crank shaft bearings were good but were a little worn down, he pulled out 2 and showed how'd the (inner half pipe looking) side looked like it was sanded down a little on the edges, its not a job i was planning to do anytime soon but wanted to know who was selling these things and how much? i might end up doing it mid 09 but im trying to stay focused on the necessities first, thanks to JSM i should be able to check anpther part off my z wishlist. anywho... they look kind of like the ones on #3 in this picture squared on one side with a half moon cut on the other. http://www.atlanticz.ca/zclub/techtips/explodedviews/280z/77fsm/main%20bearings.gif
  7. oh and thanks cocker star < i think im going to look more into it
  8. i think i might take you up on the offer, i dont remember but if there are threads, are they threaded or was it a bolt that just went straight through? and by any chance do you have that other piece was talking about that should of been attached to its left side? let me know...
  9. i have yet to find it on ebay, what i meant by stopped working is that when this part fails or does its job poorly what should i be looking for as a result of its poor performance? i have just ordered brand new thermostat hosing today actually form MSA, the top half of the housing was actually worst than this, but will be replaced soon so i didnt other to post it, i was wondering what was a PB blaster, and thanks for the tip, luckly i havnt attempted to take it out yet. the junkyard idea is actually no help, the reason is althrough i have seen many z's on the road in california and arizona, Z's are acutally rare in South Florida, i have maybe only seen 3 in Miami, the past 15 years. So yeah a link to a page, an offer for a fairly good conditioned one, or alternative method of purchase would be much appreciated. I also was asking about the part that comes out the left side into the tubing (not in the picture), is that a seperate piece or part of it? sorry for the run on..lol thanks again
  10. i cant seem to find this piece, i believe its my heater hose outlet, i also need to replace the pipe that comes out of the left side of it (which has that smaller pipe coming out of it pointing up), as you can see it is the piece next to my alternator bracket, if anyone knows where i casn find this piece pleaseee let me know, thanks i was also wondering if anyone knew what damage may have been caused when this part stopped working, i been working on my 77'280z off and on and have been learnign about cars along the way since its my first project car. any help would be appreciated.

    My car.

i was going to ask you if you knew anyonwe else with a z down here, all the z clubs i know are all 350's
  13. well he still hasn't responded, and i did find a few more jy's dont here, i guess i should just look harder, i appreciate the help and let me know if you do have it, or if you might have the 83-85 i beleive it is for the swap, i want to do all this next month "dec" so by january i can get the brown spots out and ride it clean, im not tryign to make it a show car, just clean enough to ride around proudly, btw thanks for the link, i never seen a yard site with actuall prices upfront, im guessing these are generic prices for any car? anyways thanks again, ill keep everyone posted on what this guy says
  14. thanks for the help guys, i just sent him an email asking about the casting with a copy and past of directions where to find them on the head, i have already rebuiilt my starter and alternator, but thanks for the responses, ill be sure to check the head. and check the castings of the one i have, hopefully they match (or would it matter?) the problem with finding it is that theyre easier to find over there then they are around here, ive only seen 2 pre 80's z's around here in the 10 years we have lived here, i was considerign the et swap but thought it would cost to much to have it done and then overhauled, so i figured i d replace the little L6 i have. ill make a note of all these things to check and appreciate the help so far, let me know if anything else
  15. he also said pick up only, hes into European cars, so my guess is he is selling it cheap because he doesn't want to go through with the hassle
