  1. I dont know what I'm gonna do for wheels either. I want to dragrace weekends so I cant use adapters or deep spacers because of track rules. I want to run 15 or 16" wheels. The more I hunt for something reasonable ( and for me that means CHEAP!) the more I think I'm going to try to do the cheapest swap possible to get 5 lug hubs. Z's are new to me so I'm as lost as anyone.. I agree that wheels are really the last major thing you want to do with a project so that the suspension and brakes are already what you want...
  2. I got a Garmin ETREX legend CX handhelp GPS w/topography software, vehicle adapter, case and sd mini chip. a rotisserie toaster oven, fishing tackle, a 4" resonated tailpipe tip, the usual clothes $275 in cash and $200 in SUMMIT bucks, $75 to Lowes Hardware, $25 to Amazon.com a monogramed "koozie" can cooler a sausage and cheese set a gallon of the best bootleg homemade wine I've ever had! not too damn shabby this year
  3. welcome... I'll double ya money right now and pick it up! LOL!!!
  4. I did mine with 1969 GMC truck mounts that bolt straight through on the original Z perches and a spacer. Used hugger headers and built a new crossmember for the turbo350 tranny. Used the Z driveshaft shortened with a camaro yoke fitted to the front and rebalanced. 1990 "ish" s-10 blazer 4x4 4.3 ltr with ac and towing radiator with an electric fan. Use grade 8 or better bolts on the mounts and I added a "sakety cable" on the left side from a Grand National just in case I busted a mount. A "one wire" GM alternator and short waterpump for clearance. I did have to remove the hood latch because I used an HEI distributor.
  5. I know alot of people who have had real issues with the quality of some of the rebuilt older import alternators/starters available these days. Sometimes it takes 3-4 to get one that lasts......
  6. I wonder if you could slice the bosch plugs down to look like the Golden Lodge plugs and still get optimum spark?
  7. GOOD OLD NC SOUTHERN HOLIDAY HERE!! Smoked ham slow roasted on the grill on applewood coals injected with "secret" brine. Deep fried Cajun style Turkey. Mashed potatoes and giblet gravy. German "twice baked" potato salad. Fried creamed corn. Yeast rolls. Cranberry sauce. Monterey Jack mac-n-cheese, green bean casserole, lima beans. Sweet potato pie, chocolate pie, banana pudding. Iced tea, Dr Pepper and then around 4 in the afternoon I'll break out the Jagermeister and Killians red. I've got about 2 more hours of cooking ( it is 1 am EST now) on the ham before I take it off the grill and wrap it tight in foil to "sweat". I'll do the turkey just before everyone arrives and my wife and I have cooked or prepared to be cooked everything else today!!! Next year were goint to KEY WEST OR VEGAS!!!
  8. Thats a great idea and a fine gift. My Dad is into old Fergusons like the one Ford copied into the old red belly. I have a heck of a time finding him parts so if anyone knows of anyplace please share!!
  9. I hear the new bosch =4 are good with the 4 tabs around the electrode, but I havent tried them. All I know abouT Spitfire is what I have experienced and witnessed from others.. all bad.
  10. Great Dave , nice program. I just wanted to point it out.. Happy Holidays
  11. I would think the lead seals the metal and this doesnt allow oxidation to take place...
  12. I just wanted to take a moment to say Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to all of the great people here on Hybridz!! Party smart and I hope everyone gets some goodies for their car from Zanta this year!!! Peace.. Ledphoot
  13. I like the new Caddy pearl white myself.. But I'm pretty old school.. I think it is called Grecian white and it is a 3 stage pearl.

  15. woops my bad. I didn't notice the French Canadian province..
  16. Gave that to the wife last year.... it just sits there waiting to be used... damn no return policy! I told her she should donate it to someone that would get some use out of it and she just acted like I pi$$ed her off. She said as long as it was hers she would use it when, where and if she wanted too... Ungrateful wench! Then she said if I kept talking s*&t she would throw it to the dog..
  17. If I'm running over 90 when I see him, I'm not hitting the brakes
  18. I've always ran NGK even in my Chevy engines. I had a tough time years ago with a 13-1 compression Olds motor burning plugs and an old man at the track told me ngk would take the abuse. I had tried Champion, Autolite, AC/Delco,and Bosch and still found I could cook a plug at high revs even with 2 different styles of ignition. Unilite and Speced out Hei. I reluctantly tried his advice and could run a weekend clean and regap and run a second weekend only chnging plugs to be safe. I would actually put the old ones back in the boxes and keep them for spares and occasionally use then to tune up my Cutlass daily driver at home. Since then I use NGK in everything including my Evinrude outboard.
  19. if your going over 140 does it really matter if you know it?? LOL!!
  20. The best engines I ever built fought me all the way.. Stick with it and chalk it all up as education...
  21. yep any good shop prefers/requires you to provide the pistons for proper fit..
  22. It is possibly a combination of weak spark and rings not yet seated. Poor combustion will add to the oils smoke.
  23. Hickl, I've seen some nice kits on Ebay. Just make sure you deal with someone of good reputation. I've found the best pricing there too. Check Summit, PAW and http://www.naparts.com/ProductDetail.cfm?ProductId=549 I used this kit from Northern Auto Parts in a buds 4x4 truck and he beats the S#^t out of it everyday!
