Okay thoughts here; I have a 260 if I use the Maxima's n47 head, and some .040 over 240 flat-top slugs and a standard head gasket. according to lengine I should get a 10.4 compression ratio. A bit high for today's fuel, but the aluminum head thing. I'm not sure of what the voodoo is, but I'm under the impression that you can run higher CR's with aluminum. would I have to run a cam with alot of overlap to run this CR? I know that I'm going to get a lashing about the L26, and that I should drop in a blown 7 liter sbc v8 with a 2-speed air shift transmission, but I'm just trying to get a little more power and fuel mileage out of the car for now. (okay, a bit of an exaggeration but I will be told to use a l28, won't I?) As a non-US L26 puts out about 165-170 horse gross, what kind of power do you think a this would put out with a mid range cam, and the ports matched and polished? (Yes I should be in bed dreaming of MS L28et's VS. dreaming up such madness.) 3am in Vegas & I'm going to sleep... Thanks, Jim

A 620 4x4? We didn't get a Datsun 4x4 until 1980 in the good ol' USA.

It looks like an old hitachi vacuum secondary 2bbl to me. I'd go with the Redline/Weber setup if it's still avaliable.

Ok. Here it goes. I just picked up a ’74 260. It’s a little rough to say the least, but it’s un-molested. From what I can tell looking on the net, it has round-top carbs. Other than that It’s a mess! It has an automatic trans (gotta go). What 5-speed trans has the closest ratios in it? Will my center console still work with a manual? Can I use any year pedal box? I’m dreaming about a late zx short block using my head /w 280 valves and a little hotter cam. Should I use the 2+2 clutch? The rear end has the standard big “thunk†when shifting between drive and reverse. How many bushings are replaced if I went to a R200 rear member? Do I need a R200? This is a great site, but all the options of mix and match can get a little overwhelming, from LD28’s with automatics to LT-1’s with 6-speeds. A lot has changed since my little 510 twenty plus years ago…
