  1. Hey Spot did you ever manage to take a look for me?
  2. Nope not really. Ive got the FSM and it shows the same thing. It shows the wiring going to the dizzy but the only wire actually connected to it was the one coming from the ignition coil. I was hoping that someone could verify by looking under their hood.
  3. C'mon guys its a question about the stock wiring in a 280zx. You are telling me no one knows anything??
  4. On the Fsm diagram it looks like one end splices with the black/white for the power of the coil and the other goes to the dizzy. The pictured wire goes straight into the dizzy so I'm not sure if it grounds there or what.
  5. On a seperate note, where do each ends of the condenser wires lead to? (The black lead and blue lead right infront of the coil)
  6. Hey all, I've got a 79 280zx on my hands and I am experiancing a crank but no start condtion. The problem stems from removing the antique alarm system that was in it. I guess I can't just let things be. Anyways I picked up a FSM and am going through checking my connections but I am still baffelled. As you can see from the pic, the brown wire is "spliced" into the black/white one. What I havn't been able to identify is exactly what the blue wire on the right hand side of the picture goes to? What you may notice from that picture above is a missing condenser. I recently picked one up from the local j/y and want put it back in place. Can I just put it in as is or do I need to give it a charge prior to installation? I was also wondering does the one side of it ground and the other get installed on the black/white wire? There isn't much info besides the pullout wiring diagram. Originally I was diagnosing this crank/no start with a FSM from an 82. This (possibly wrong) showed that I only had about 7 or 8 volts at the IC unit while cranking. Is this what the condenser affects (durning start up)? One last thing... Right over the A/c compressor, I assume that is the magnetic clutch wiring for an intermittant signal but what does the blue wire connect to?
  7. On the schematic would this be the explaination to 4 wires going to the dist?
  8. Hey I've got a 79 280zx. I recently aquired it and am in the process of taking all of the previous owners shoddy wiring out (alarm, stereo, power antenna, etc). Long story short on the way to hooking everything back up I am left with a crank but no start problem. I've gone down the testing senarios for the ignition system and get up testing the cranking voltage at the IC unit. My voltage drops from 12, precrank to around 7-8ish (Taken at the 2 wire plug) while cranking. In the schematic it illustrated 4 wires coming off of the distro but I only see the two that I unplug to test it. If anyone could shed some light on this subject it would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.
