  1. BTw mine runs actually pretty good on 4cyl, its just rough.
  2. I am having the exact same problem! injectors 1 3 5 7 are not firing. My wiring is good because i checked it all the way back to the PCM pinouts and i have continuity. if i ground an injector manually it clicks. WTF, it is like the PCM isn't doing its job?
  3. Hey I have a quick question....i installed a 40 pulse vss on my 4l60E lt1 combo. I am getting good voltage from my VSS into the PCM (put the car on stands and put it in gear) but the out to speedo wire (D8 i believe) just sits at .5 volt ac no matter how fast my wheels spin. So, i checked to make sure that its programmed right and everything checked out. So then i just wired straight from the VSS to the Speedo and everything worked fine. My speedo is an autometer. Its like the PCM out to speedo isn't sending the right signal? Do most of yall just run the speedo right off the VSS? thanks!
  4. Thanks!........some of us search better than others i guess!
  5. I have a MALF 26: CCP electrical fault on my LT1. I am unclear as to what this is? thanks!
  6. I already have Tuner cat which i used to program my 94 pcm. Now that it is running i would like to be able to monitor what the PCM is doing and check to make sure things are working right. I don't have any scan tools....is there software that i can use to use my PC?
  7. thanks for the help. I the fuel pump continues to run. I even hot wired it to double check and i had the same result. I ordered one of those VATS bypass modules for $25 dollars on EBAY i figured it was worth the shot.
  8. I have posted about this a month or so ago and have put the engine back together. Anyways, i am back at square one. I swapped in a 94 LT1 and 4l60e from a vette and used the stock wiring/pcm. I spent many hours on the harness and used tuner cat to reprogram. My problem is that the engine runs for 5 seconds then dies. It will restart fine, but again will only run for 5 seconds. If i start it and give it gas, the engine will rev just fine but again, will only last for 5 seconds. I have deducted that there is not a fuel pressure or volume problem. It has to be the PCM killing the engine....via injector pulse? i don't know. I dissable the VATS with tuner cat. I even reneabled the VATS to see if it would act different.....no difference. Is it possible to have a bad PCM? Its the weekend and getting this baby running would be awesome! Can anyone think of anything that would make the engine die after 5 seconds? thank you!
  9. Thanks for all the suggestions thus far! I think my problem may be somewhat more simple and a mistake on my part, tell me what you think.....There are steam vents that come out of the back of the heads. I connected a tube from the steam vent tube to the throttle body. On the TB there 3 ports on the right side. I connected the tube to the middle one. After further inspection i noticed that any fluid running through the this port would go straight into the intake. So, perhaps the coolant just ran right in. But, the engine wasn't even warm. Even if this is the problem, how could i get coolant in my oil? Also, for my oiling. Is there any special way to prime the LT1 oil pump? I only get oil to the left bank lifters. After further inspection the right bank lifters are dry. I don't know how it routes, does it take a real long time for the oil to get to the right side?
  10. latest update....Both heads are off and look great. Even the headgaskets look fine, i think that the coolant coming out of the block was being pushed out a spark plug hole. I am beyond confused. There was so much coolant in the cylinders, and throughout the intake. The rotating assembly seems fine, very smooth, just coolant everywhere!
  11. okay latest update. I drained the oil and it was full of coolant. I could also see some coolant coming out between the cylinder head and block. So i pulled the whole top half of the motor off. There is coolant in everything, intake, oil and cylinders. Everything else looks good though, actually the motor is pretty freaking clean. I think it was seized because the cylinders were hydrolocked with coolant. I think that the head gasket blew because the cylinder was full of coolant. How in the CRAP could coolant be getting in! Also, i still don't have oil making it up to the top of the engine on the right bank. where should i look for a clog? thanks for everything!
  12. I checked it again and even reprogrammed to make sure. Still the same thing. I also enabled the vats and i didn't have any changes. However, i think i have much bigger problems now! My motor let out a big puff from the throttle body and it has siezed. I don't understand, it seemed to be in great shape and is low mileage. I have been getting 50 psi of oil pressure but like i said before, no oil up ontop of the heads. I think i am gonna have to tear into it!!
  13. Well, i believe that i disabled it. Its a 94 vette motor. I don't really have that much experience with tuner cat but i just unchecked the box that says Vats enable.
  14. just an addition...There is no oil making it to the top of the heads up on the lifters. I peaked through my oil fill cap and noticed it looked pretty dry so i removed it and even cranked up the motor and no oil is comming in. However, my oil pressure guage shows almost 50 psi when i start it?
  15. First off, i am not working on a Z car, instead its a 69 landcruiser but you guys seem to know alot! I am finished my LT1 swap and it cranked right up on the first shot but it will only run for about 3-5 seconds then die. I did a reprogram of the PCM with tuner cat and kept the stock harness. I thought that it had to be a fuel issue so i removed my filters and just ran a straight line to see if it was starving the engine, still same thing but i think it runs a tad bit longer. I am using a MSD inline fuel pump. When i depress the shrader valve pressure seems to be good. I am leaning towards PCM programming or electrical, i am not a good troubleshooter. It will crank up perfect everytime but won't stay running. THe pcm turns the fuel pump on for 3 seconds before starting and the pump stays running for a few seconds after it dies.
  16. My lt1 is from a 94 vette but it does have an after cat 02 sensor on the right bank. I know its OBD1 but i hear that some of these years had OBDII stuff on them. I guess i will just put an 02 simulator on that sensor when i finish my exhaust.
  17. thanks for all the replies, but just to shed some light on the situation. My schematic shows that the pcm does infact give the 12v to the relay, not a ground. I even checked with my DVOM to make sure. When i turn the key to ON i get 12v from the Grn/wht wire from the PCM for 2 seconds then it goes away. When i crank the motor the 12v reappears. Perhaps there are different systems?? I am almost 100% confident that the oil pressure switch is just a backup incase the relay goes bad. Starting would be more difficult because the engine would have to build 4psi before the pump would get power. THis theory was confirmed by one who builds wire harnesses on another board.
  18. yeah, there still seems to be some misunderstanding. I didn't know that it the PCM was giving the relay a ground i thought it was suppling the 12v to activate the relay, good thing i didn't wire it up yet i could have maybe messed up my PCM.
  19. thanks for the help. I talke to some guys on another board and they told me that the oil pressure switch is only a backup in case the fuel pump relay goes bad. This makes sense with my wiring diagram. But, i still wonder why some people say that the pcm must recognize 4psi to energize the relay because the PCM doesn't even know what the oil pressure is as it has no incoming data.
  20. thanks for the reply. My schematic shows it actually bypassing the relay, the yellow wire from the oil pressure switch splices into the power wire to the pump after the relay. If the switch was before the relay then it seems to me that the PCM couldn't energize the fuel pump because there is no oil pressure.
  21. I know this has been covered but i can't figure this out exactly. My lt1 is from a 94 vette. The oil pressure switch has a yellow wire coming out, a red and a wht/brn. According to my schematic, there is no third wire (the wht/brn) what is its purpose? It also shows that the red wire goes to my pcm 20 amp fuse hot at all times and the yellow splices into the fuel pump relay wire that is going out to power the fuel pump (what would be terminal 30 i believe). I know the PCM is supposed to energize the relay for 2 seconds prior to starting the engine. Does the PCM continue to energize the relay once the engine is started and running? Or is power now supplied to the fuel pump via the oil pressure switch? If so, these wires on the oil pressure switch seem to be to small guage to run current to the fuel pump. I guess a full detailed explanation would be great! I'd love to have this running by thanksgiving!! thanks a ton!!
