That is the next thing I did, the problem was that when the boost should be stock it was hitting 8 psi and after i plugged the pop off vvalve it wanted to boost with no wastegate (it tried to go to 15psi at 1/2 throttle) then I added boost and it went back to 6 psi?. So what I am saying is when it should be doing stock its doing unlimited and when I try to add boost it goes immediatly to stock boost and I only want to run 10psi, I think my controller might be messed up...

I am a pretty new member to this site I live in sacramento CA and I love zcars I have had several over the past years and cant get enough of them Maybe you guys could help me figure something out. I have a 85 300zxt and I recently aquired a turbonetics "VBC kit" But when I got it I realized that the directions were for an external wastegate (dual port) but I figured that the principles were the same , restricting the signal line to the wastegate via an inline valve with a knob attached like the one that came with the kit. I noticed that the wastegate actuator gets its signal from 2 ports on the intake side of the turbo so i added about a 1-1/2 foot piece of vaccuum line from the compressor to the controller, then another line from the controller to the wastegate actuator ok so everthing clamped down controller is set to fully open so that I should be running stock boost. So I take it for a test drive and the thing is running like 8 psi and opening the pop off valve when it should be running 6 and then I tried turning up the boost and it only made 6 psi, now i am throughly confused. Is it the controller?, Do I have it hooked up wrong? Any Ideas/suggestions? thanks A lot

  4. i have a 300zx turbo 1985 with the originalk 15in wheels with 5 lugs. in the future i would like to purchase aftermarket wheels, so i would like to know the stock meausurements for my wheel (bolt pattern, offset,and width) thanks for any info, any suggestions for wheel companies?

So i went to pick n pull there was not 1 300zx with tps intact(hot item i'm guessing) but there was an 85 maxima with a manual tranny i got the TPS off of with connector and length of wire, anyways i soldered in new connector and installed the maxima TPS. started up the z and it started to idle at 2000rpm, 1 minute later around 1400 warmed and it was back to its normal 1100. it stopped bucking and jumping when i let off the gas and the idle although high is stabilized. but 2 probelms remain the high idle and when i give it full throttle and let off, even when i clutch to change gear the rpm hangs there for a second it does not have to be high rpm just full throttle. thanks for all the help so far.

  7. i recently purchased a stock 1985 300zx turbo. the engine at idle is pretty erratic, when i start the car it starts idling at around 1500 rpm for a minute or 2 then starts to drop to normal so then i drive the car and when i stop at a light or whenever the engine idles up and down as high as 1100 and will falll to the point of almost stalling around 300 rpm, the car was previously in san fransico, CA and some of the electrical connections could be corroded by saltwater. from what i have learned from researching and talking to people is that it could be one of a couple things:dirty or damaged TPS, bad O2 sensor or vaccuum leak/problem, what do you guys think? thanks oh by the way after i fix the problems with car right now (needs windshield sprayer motor/lines,steering rack boots,struts,power steering pump,bushings all around,and idle problem) i am looking to stiffen and lower the car, put in an LSD and hopefully get between 300-350 rwhp range sound good/ realistic to you guys

Thanks for the info, i did a little more research myself and found out that replacing the stock adjustables is very expensive (somebody told me $800 a strut) but other options are A KYB non adjustable or rebuilding the strut with new parts i dont know how i could acheive this (kit or send out?). but then again this is just what i have heard from some fellow z owner on the net. so anyone who has more advice it is greatly appreciated, thanks again
  12. I need any advice on replacing the 300zx turbo (85) electronic adjustable suspension, aftermarket or stock replacement? money wise? difficulty? thanks for any advice

I recently purchased my third 85 300zx, my first turbo! anyways this one seems to have the most worn suspension and it pulls very noticeibly when i let my hand of the wheel i assume this is just an alignment issue. the tires where new when i bought it so i did not notice any uneven wear. also the front tires rub when i steer more than 2 turns of the wheel when car is stationary, the guy i bought it from did not even know that it was a problem what do you think the problem is one this one?, solution?. i am going to replace all front bushings with poly replacements, any advice on suspension replacement stock? aftermarket?, thanks for any advice. much appreciated , Zchef85
