  1. thanks guys, did some digging in the distributor and a found couple of small ball bearings rolling around, also the magnetic ring under the electrode ring cracked in 5 or 6 places. So the search for dizzy is underway.
  2. Hi Guys, first time posting on this site.I have a misfiring issue with my car(I think).I have a 72 240 with L28 bored 1mm,E88 head from 260,dual weber DGV's,ZX dizzy,MSD6 box,ZX alternator. It sounds like the timing is off but I have adjusted it from one extreme to the next with no change. The alt. gauge shows that it is overcharging(the alt. and MSD box are new although this problem existed before the upgrade).Could there be a short to ground somewhere causing the ignition to misfire?Any help is greatly appreciated
  3. Hi Guys, first time posting here on this site.I have a firing issue with my car(I think). It's a 72 240 with L28 bored 1mm,E88 head from 260,dual weber DGV's,82 dizzy with MSD6 ignition,ZX alternator.I've tried adjusting the timing from one extreme to next, checked plugs, wires, dizzy with it still misfiring. The alternator is new along with the MSD,although problem existed before these items. The alt is also drawing to the over charging side of the gauge.Could there be a short to ground somewhere causing this problem(the overcharging existed with the 240 alt. as well)Any suggestions greatly appreciated.

  4. Thanks Paul, invaluable info. Now which head to use.look in to that later
  5. In stock configuration, the pistons in a l28 engine are .007" under deck, according to lengine chart.I'm rebuilding mine now and have bored 1mm over, stock rods,87mm pistons, stock crank,.005" shaved off deck height. With those dimensions I should still be .002" under deck.Problem is I"m .012"-.013" over.My only guess is that I was given a piston with wrong pin height. My question now is can I proceed with the build with that piston height.
  6. Any problems with using an E88 head with oil spray bar on the N42 block,87mm flat top pistons, stock 280 rods, stock crank?I've heard that the stock cam on the L26 E88 head is the biggest of all the stock heads. Also, does anyone know max lift on stock valve springs?
