  1. I need help sorting my fuse block issues. The PO had installed a new fuel pump and a toggle switch that activates the relays under the hood, which also turns on fuel pump. Runs fine. I Just want to fix it properly. Trying to get away from the afro engineering.

The toggle switch is connected to the pos+ side of the battery. then to a white/black wire going to fuse block. When I flip the toggle switch on, relays/ignition chime and indicator light bulb check come alive.

With only having haynes its hard to determine what the wire is from. Is the white/black wire suppose to get voltage when the ignition switch is turned on? maybe the ignition switch or associated wiring is broken and and this is acting as the switch now...?

  2. First weeks update...

Fully stripped the Front floor pans, factory deadener removed, used aircraft stripper for the paint W/ wire wheel attached to angle grinder. Patched over holes with sheet metal. Fully welded very thin section in front of passenger side seat was double layer for strength. Only hole that was a concern was in passenger side foot well.

Golf ball size. Made patch more than double the size of hole to disperse the load and to weld to solid metal.

ground the welds down a little (wasn't looking for perfection since it will be covered up anyways.)

2 Coats of POR15 and 1 thick coat of herculiner bed liner sprayed with a bed liner gun later..

Pretty sure it will never ever rust again. Love the way the bed liner makes it look and gives it extra sound and heat blocking. I am planning on keeping it like this until I get other things sorted and get around to buying carpet.

Next I will probably tackle the hesitation/sputter when I try accelerate hard.

Dist Cap and rotor look like original as do the Plug wires, Going to do a full Tune up first to get me started.

Has had a new fuel pump install by the PO. But will not rule that out if it doesn't run better after tune up.

Need to get a Service manual for the car as the haynes book that came with it is about useless.

  3. First post...Just Picked up a 1978 280Z....Think its an original Black Pearl.

From what I have read it has the correct color code number 638.

Not sure if that makes the car any more valuable.?

I have been wanting a S30 Z car for 5 or so years and finally got a chance.

Found her on CL has 150K. 99% all original. Not too much under the hood or anywhere else

has been messed with or modified and all the parts are there. (which is what I liked about the car)

Payed right at a grand for the car. It runs and drives. has only a few rust areas/dents.

It had not been driven on the road for 2 years stored outside so I got to work on it right away.

Started by pulling the seats/carpet and deadening material. (which is quite a chore)
