Phil did you find a fix for this? I replaced all my guages with autometer white classic about 6 years ago. I ran in to other issues but not this. Did you try to epoxy? JB Weld or something like that?

Thank you for the idea to look at other make cars. Never thought about the unit itself being used by other car manufacturers. Going thru the junk yard is not my best option. I am in northern Cali and I have to admit I have very little free time with my job. I would have to start calling pick a parts or yards to see if the even have a zx. I was just checking here to see if anyone has a dead afm they would be will to take the cover off and sell.

I am in need of the black plastic cover for a 1982 280zx turbo air flow meter. Does any one out there have one? Thanks
