  1. Hey, Treadstone. Mine is still registered as a Datsun, never had any problems with it. I've heard of some actually getting Ferrari on the title somehow but I don't see the point. Just makes your insurance rates skyrocket and isn't going to fool anyone. My Tags are only .62 cents a year, insurance cheaper than my motorcycle. After the initial inspection, which went really easy, I've never been hassled.
  2. Finally pulled the trigger and put mine up for sale. It's here. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=190304668417&ssPageName=ADME:L:LCA:MOTORS:1123
  3. ZOMG!!! Chelle, that craigslist search thingy is freaking heartbreakingly awesome! (heartbreaking because I just sold a couple of Harley Hummers for about $1,000 less than what others are asking for the same thing) Tensor, my Z is 99% stock except for the body kit and simpson dash. I have all the interior pieces but it's gutted, except for the rollbar and seats, I went for the stripped down race look. It runs great, for a 240z, the motor is fresh and the carbs are from Z therapy. The build is about 20 years old and the kit is cracking at the bond points. It needs to be rebonded with these new space age polymers, not just bondo like it was originally done. It's a daily driver for me, in the summer. I'm thinking about asking somewhere around $6,000 for it. Comments anyone? Too high? Too low?[/img] I swear, I cannot get an image to load. I'll post it on craigslist and then post a link. Sheesh I'm a retard with computers.
  4. Welcome Tensor. I think the one place to get a GTO would be e-bay. I've seen unfinished kits on there every so often. Kinda rare, once every few months, but unless someone else has ideas I don't really know. I bought mine off E-bay a few years ago and had big plans at first but a job change stopped that. Now I just drive it as is, it's still a lot of fun. I campaigned it last year in our local autocross circuit. Didn't win any trophies (it's mostly stock) but it was a blast to tear around the course. Your post was almost like serendipity. I've been thinking about letting the folks on this board know I was going to sell it, give anyone here first dibs before putting it back on e-bay. My Garage space is very limited now and I've gone back to bikes as my main hobby. If it's something you may be interested in, let me know. Hmm. I can't get the pic to show up. I'll try later to post one. Or I can email something to you.
  5. A gathering by 2012, eh? Mine may be finished by then. ; ). This forum has been invaluable for me. Chelle has, whether she realizes it or not, influenced a LOT of the things I've done to my Alpha kit. Con Brio, OZ, ... all of you guys, with your bits of wisdom, have been a great help. Thanks
  6. Welcome, Dan. Chelle, or anyone else with a trunk kit, could you be so kind as to post the measurements of the deck lid and how wide the panel is under the rear window? (The narrow panel between the deck lid and rear window.) Also, the size of the rear window. My Alpha One kit is going under the knife this weekend, and taking Chelle's advice, I'm going to make one from scratch. I should say "we". I have a buddy with Mad Metal Skillz. The only kit I've been able to locate is in England and with the decline of the dollar, it would cost around $2300. I can post pic's if anyone else is interested in how we do it. (if it comes out as planned. If not, I'll just buy another hatchback lid and pretend I never posted this.) We plan on using the lower half of the original hatch, if it's wide enough, as the panel between the window and deck lid. For the rear window, I'm thinking of just sectioning out ?? inches, welding it back together and using the original glass cut down to size. That way I'll be able to retain the orignal chrome mouldings. Any suggestions before I fire up the torch?
  7. I've got an Alpha One kit and have no problems with front end lift. I had it up to about 110 mph yesterday, trying to work all the little bugs out after finally getting it up and running. I've got a mostly stock mechanical setup, original six cylinder and stock brakes. With the fiberglass body, these little boogers really haul heiny. By the way, I want to personally thank Chelle for showing me an easier way. She has the car that I'd originally started to build... stretched frame, V-12, etc. Near clone perfection of the original. But seeing all the work and time and money she has invested, I decided to just build a fun ride. Low budget... maybe even a rat rod style Ferrari or at least an "unrestored rode hard and put up wet" look. (Currently primer and yellow) I've had it out on the streets for about a week now, turns heads everywhere. It's loud, rude, no A/C or radio. Squeals the tires on take off if you're not careful and likes 80mph better than 55. I'd like to replace the original roll up windows with sliders like some of the original's had. Anyone ever done this or have any ideas?
  8. Hey, Oz. Thanks but I've all those links bookmarked.... I'm not complaining about the cost of importing it, I grumble about the $2,000 dollar cost PLUS import postage. The Vela Rossa has a trunk kit that is only $218 and a block off kit for $80. I can't imagine what makes a piece of fiberglass and a bit of steel bonded into it worth $2000. Just venting, cause I was hoping to save myself a whole bunch of time by just buying one off the shelf instead of fabricating everything. Chelle had a good post on how hers went on, should be able to duplicate everything in the garage. Sigh.
  9. Hey, all. I'm trying to find an affordable trunk kit for my Alpha One kit. Anyone know of a supplier or link to some detailed plans? The only thing I've found is the outfit in England, OM sportscars, and it's over $2,000 bucks. Thanks
  10. Anyone know where I can a trunk kit for an alpha one kit besides OM sports cars? There's is over $2,000 dollars. Thanks
