  1. thank you johnc like many have said before its hard to search if you don't know what your searching for but this help i do understand there are probably many post related to such things, but how are people supposed to search if they don't know what they are . thank you for the information
  2. thanks for your help everyone, although kinda depressed i need a close to 100$ special tool to get it off >.<. My rears came off with some mild heat and a pipe wrench, But know one has seen a gland nut like this? is there any other way to take it off like being creative? I really just wanna know if the gland nut i showed you is actually indeed a locking key type? Do i need to mess with the center piece at all of will it spin off like the others with some cleverly applied force?
  3. does anyone know how to take that kind of gland nut off??? im at a total loss lol, cause i dont wanna destroy my strut tubes because of something so stupid and re taping is a royal pain in the u know what.
  4. Hey all I seem to be having some difficulties getting the last bits of my rusting hulk apart. I'm down to the last bits of the front suspension as the rear came off fairly easy. My problem is the front gland nuts and the rears on my car are totally different and i have know idea how to take the fronts off. The back carts came out fairly easy when my pyro side came threw but im at a loss as how to take apart the fronts. it looks to be a key way type deal on the fronts but i could be wrong, has anyone seen one like this and know how to take it apart? i just wanna say i have used the search function so i don't wanna hear use the search function, i have found lots of info about putting them on just not much about taking them off.
  5. awsome man thanks, i was just scouting if anyone had actually purchased them or not best to gather info before a purchase
  6. Hey everyone i was just wondering if anyone on here has bought a set of these or knows someone thats has. I came across them and buy the reviews on the site looks to be a solid kit. was just curious if anyone had any personal experience with this kit o not? and i was also wondering if i got this kit what spring rates should be good for daily driver occasional auto x? thanks for any help on subject Matt. Link to the kit below / http://www.modern-motorsports.com/catalog/product_info.php?cPath=30&products_id=12
  7. i see i was very mistaken indeed, i have done the research and the design behind this head is amazing. twin cam, twin turbo l28 3.0 dang man u sure know how to pick a good platform. once its buttoned down i would love to see some sick dyno numbers. that 2+2 s-30 will be an amazing sleeper if you design it to be. will be watching intently on the updates
  8. sadly i think thats was a O.S. Giken (spelling) head if im not mistaken? I don't think they make those anymore and if they do they are really hard to find. and if im totally wrong and it was a one off job u guys did an amazing job, sounds incredible.
  9. I have been reading up a lot on the blow threw designs that are out there and have come to the conclusion that im gunna fab up a box for my mikunis. I have seen the cartech box but as i have read in this post it is not favorable style out there. I have been searching but i have had no luck at seeing what the HKS style box looks like can anyone help me out on this? I have an L24 and am planning a build up non efi. so any help of different box designs would be helpful even drawings that u thought of in your sleep. as many idas the better.
  10. Hey guys just wanna ask a couple questions. right now i got an s30 with 45000 miles on the motor so block and head are both sound. now i dont know anything when it comes to numbers and motors such as cam ginds and displacement but i do have an indepth knowledge of how it all works. I have overheard many conversations and read forums about smaller dislacement motors being a good platform for turbo setups. now i dont know anything so this could be bull so i thought i would ask someone who knew. i mean rally cars have used really small displacement motors forever so i thought there must be something behind this. i mean the company AMS motors or something is putting out 1000 hp on a 4 cylinder !! so what does 2 extra cylinders have instore for us z guys? now i know its fuel injected and DOHC but fuel injection isnt tuff and SOHC can put out just as much power so is a small displacement motor better for turbo spooling? just curious on different power options for my bone stock motor. I would like to get around 350 400 hp so was wondering what i would really ahve to do? any input on this would be great. Also i have heard of some turbo setup that blows threw carbs instead of fuel injection? if its true how does it work and is it a sound setup?
  11. hey guys ive been looking around, ebay and this site and a couple other online resources but i have had no luck. now i always hear how the l28et's are a dime a dozen but, i cant ever find one. im fresh out of places t look for one. i would liek to aquire the motor, trany, ecu and complete harness if possible but as of yet i have had no luck. does anyone know were there is a stockpile of the motors? pref in a non rebuilt state (cheaper for me). any help would be greatly appreciated, and im sorry if this is in the wrong section of the forum, didnt really look like many people were posting WTB's in the classifieds.
  12. lol removing that tar stuff is a pain, but to tell you the truth, all i used was a scraper and a ruber mallet. Most of mine seemed to ahve big air pockets so it came of if big sheets but for the remains i jsut went back with a wire brush on my good ol dewalt drill lol. I ahve already compleated the the main hoops and now im "trying" and failing at how to proceed with the egine bay cage. I saw the nice one done on page one of this thread but, i was just wondering how you figured out the shock/strut angle for your mounts, wich i have to say is awsome.
