  1. Small block was free, already had one. I'm pretty sure its a 383 but my dad can't remember if he sold the one with the bigger crank or not
  2. Hey guys, just wanting to share my 84 z31 that I'm throwing a sbc into. There's a huge story about me getting this car, bought it off ebay at the age of 18 so you know how that goes. Previous owner stated the oil pump went out, found out that oil pump still pumped like a champ but he never checked the oil. When I hauled it back home from Michigan (8 hour road trip) I checked the oil and had found out that the dipstick was bone dry. Ended up purchasing some of autozone's special cheap discount oil and dumped it in shortly after tightening the drain plug. Found out the drainplug was finger tight which I was surprised that it hadn't come out from the bumps hauling it back. Turns out the motor was going to be locked up anytime (kinda guessed from what the issue was thought to be) this is how it sounded. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JeHyT1FUtIw Got to drive it for 2 and a half miles. Pulled out of my lane and got up to speed, ended up going around a corner and slipping the clutch while grabbing second and there was a loud bang. Found out later that it ended up throwing a rod through the bottom of the pan. Gonna make a nice coffee table! Ended up trying to swap a VG30ET into it but I had a bad computer so I figured I would test fit the small block. We had this puppy laying up in some interlake steel racks in the shed. After finding out that it would fit I decided I would go with a swap to the small block. Anyways I haven't been taking enough photos but I'm going to go back and start taking some so I can get a decent build thread going on here. Especially since there's only been like 2 z31 swaps that I could find on here. The point I'm at now is I have a 350 mounted in with a 4 speed saginaw that I'm hoping can last until I find a replacement (would like to go for a T56). I've purchased the Taurus fan and made up a fan shroud as well. Haven't yet got those mounted in but I'm hoping to get them in this weekend. Here are some pictures of the build so far. http://imgur.com/a/Og317 Hopefully this isn't posted as a mess, let me know if you need anymore information or have any questions about my build. other than my drive to michigan for a car that didn't run...
  3. Thanks a lot! I've read a few other threads about the WC T5 swap, only thing I wasn't really familiar with was the Clutch Master/Slave. Wasn't sure if they were pretty much the same throughout BW T5s or not. Will start a build thread once I get most of the parts together now that I have my parts list.
  4. Thanks for the reply. Yeah I'm about 100% sure I'm just going to go with a fbody T-5 and just baby it until I can come up with the money to toss a t56 in it. Just so I have this right, I'm going to need the flywheel, starter, clutch plate, and disc to mate it to the 350? And on another note, would the stock clutch assembly as in the master/slave cylinder be enough to work the clutch correctly? Or should I just be safe and pickup the assembly from the fbody? Once I get my engine bay cleaned out and my pictures uploaded I'm going to post a build thread since the only ones on the z31 are either unfinished or have pictures that have been taken down. Thanks alot!
  5. Currently doing a 350 sbc swap into my 84 z31, was wondering if I could use the t5 trans that comes behind the 85 turbo (FS5R90A). If I heard this correctly, I should be able to swap the bellhousing and input shaft with a t5 from a camaro and it should line up with the 350? Just need something that can get me by until I can come up with a different transmission.
