  1. Doesn't matter if it has rust in the normal location. I can fix that by ordering a panel. Problem is mine has been hit and is damaged higher then they sell panels for. Anywhere in central Texas area ...
  2. I've got an 82 280zx with a/c. Heater control valve is leaking. I was wanting to take it out to see if it could be repaired with a new o ring or if I'll have to replace it. It appears I can get it out without removing the dash except for one problem. It appears there is a copper thermostat tube running from the valve to the front of the heater core. I don't understand why on a manually operated control valve what this does?
  3. Long story but I have a 700r4 with raptor parts and 5 pinion planetary and corvette servo shift kit etc. I had this transmission built for my 280z like 5 years ago. It got less than 500 miles on it but worked great. I went to do major body work on the Z and life got in the way. Also there was more rust and body damage than I thought. I since got aa280zx and I decided I want to keep the l6 on this one and go the turbo route. However I want to convert to a manual 5 speed. I think I found a clutch pedal and accessories with master cylinder but that's all I have and need the tranny, flywheel, spacer etc. I would like to trade this transmission for a good 5 speed. I invested to much money to build it and will lose money not using it but I have nothing to put it in and don't plan on having a project vehicle to put it in the future. It's kind of hard up sell transmission with higher quality parts because if you don't take it apart you can't see them. I don't mind if you want to have a transmission shop check the internals but don't really want just anyone tearing it apart. It has set for 5 years! Keep that in mind. I'm only interested in trading for everything I need to put a 5 speed in my Z. It also needs to be local as I don't want to mess with shipping something like this
  4. I think I may have found both in north Texas. I'll delete this if it works out. Thank you though.
  5. I just acquired An 82 280zx but need a front fender and passenger door. Is there anything I need to watch out for as far as the year or are will these parts swap on all s130s?
  6. Or if anyone knows of any junk yards that have theses cars around the general area. The junk yards around here seam to not be stocking the 80s cars.
  7. I have just acquired an 82 280zx. Front passenger fender and passenger door are both damaged from an accident. Looking for both. I'm in Killeen/Temple texas area but will travel to pick up. Thanks!
  8. I'm hoping maybe this white could just be assembly lube stained?
  9. Was hoping to get the Datsun back together this week. Ran into a possible issue. I checked the rod bearings on this engine "not many miles at all on it" and the milky white of the bearing is worn to the metal underneath. Is this normal wear? I can't feel any wear even with my finger nail on the crank.
  10. First off I'm glad to be back. My car has been in pieces for years because I went through a time that I didn't have a place to work on it and to busy with other things. I'm back and I have a welder now! and more skills and knowledge than I did before. I've started to do body work that I couldn't do before, shaving door handles and side markers etc. I'm going to weld an aluminum dash and I had a thought(WARNING SOME PEOPLE INCLUDING I UNTIL YESTERDAY WOULD THINK THIS WAS A STUPID IDEA) It might be cool to have an android powered engine and car management system. Now hear me out! I was thinking a completely clean dash with no switches but a tablet mounted to the dash in such a way that it has a clean looking bezel around it so it looks as if it's molded into the dash(these things seem to be very reliable, maybe more reliable than a mechanical switch sometimes). I'm talking complete control through the device. -if I want to start the car I would enter an access code(the screen password) I could use a starter button on the screen. Wipers, door poppers, headlights, everything could have a button on the android app. -would be very hard to steel because the docking wire could go anywhere, this is where the ignition wiring would go and the solenoid wire, and everything. It could be made very secure. -the car door could be unlocked via bluetooth with a smart phone. -maybe it would be possible to program things like dialing timing back with an electronic ignition? -Custom emergency shut off settings could be made in the app. A certain water temperature could be set or oil pressure where the car would shut off. These could of course be over ridden in the app if a sensor stopped working. -maybe another lcd screen could be hooked up for the speedometer and tach gauges -could control and easily adjust temperature fan kicks on Another small computer would have to be mounted somewhere with a box containing the mechanical or solid state relays to turn the functions on. Most of these functions are simple on off switching. I really don't see why it would be any harder than controlling an rc car, and there are already cars that can be controlled by these devices. I'm usually against computers in cars(I like carbs) but in some ways this would actually make wiring and appearance cleaner and neater. There are only 2 computers involved. The android or apple tablet or smart phone and the one that decodes the micro usb signal and controls the relays. Both should be easily replaceable should something go wrong, but computers seem to be very reliable. It would actually make some things less complicated such as fan control, door popper switches, etc. because instead of having many little boxes around the car all would be controlled from one single point. I don't know maybe it's completely stupid? I'm surprised but nothing like this seems to exist. If it does please let me know!
  11. There was a show I used to watch on the satellite tv. It may have been 12 years ago or so. It was a simple tv show where this English guy would talk about the history of the vintage race car he was about to drive. Then he would get in and drive it fast on what would normally be mountain roads. There wasn't any stupid commentary, it was just him and he would not try to put on a show. It was just about the car. I cannot remember the name of this show! I've searched and searched and can't find it!
  12. http://killeen.craigslist.org/tls/2845169001.html If it's an ok buy I'm going to pick it up tomorrow afternoon. The guy will take $425.00 it comes with tank and cart. It is a 110volt welder. I know 220v would be better but most all the welding I will be doing will be on thinner metals so I hope it would work. Also 110 is so much more convenient. I'm a first time welder. I talked to the guy on the phone, he says it works 100%. Thanks, Nathan
