could you just dye them black as well, or use a black vinyl paint?
I was looking into doing that because it's an order of magnitude cheaper than getting new interior.
I havn't seen any pictures of that done before though.
Definitely going to weigh the options and costs, It's been a while since I've had a Z.
-
That's really no ones business other than his and the sellers.
Congrats on the pickup of a nice car. When you say interior overhaul, what are your plans for it?
Thank you sir, not trying to be rude but I'd rather not publicly announce what I paid for the car. I've since kept in close contact with the seller, really cool dude.
As for the interior, I was thinking stock restore except for maybe the seats. The carpet was red dyed to black and the seats and door panels have red inserts, going to go with solid black.

Guys I saw this car in person and I like it. I liked it so much I bought it! Besides some of the above mentioned issues the car is pretty squared away. I'm planning an interior overhaul, go through and tidy up the wiring and some other small issues. I haven't had a Z in years and I'm glad to be back in one.

I also think they are old Centerlines.

send an email patrickloughran@hotmail.com include ph# I might be interested
Sorry that car is long gone.

I am considering the same two options for my next swap, and after speaking to Adrian at Vildini I thought I was leaning toward the SR20 (light, durable, parts availability, ect), then he threw in another option...2JZ!, now i'm really tossed. My biggest problem with the 2JZ is that it's not NISSAN!
-
Doesn't sound too bad, I think I will add it to my ever growing list of things to get, and lot easier on the wallet than the quote I got from Just Dashes to restore my original one, $1200.
-
Thanks again Mark, I guess I will just have to buy one and mess around with it. I was thinking of trying to epoxy tabs onto the dash in the original locations........think it would work?
-
Thanks Mark, looks great in your car. I assume there are no mounting backets at all on the back of the dash, do you have any pictures of the installation?
-
I did a search and came up with posts that were pretty old. If any members here have this dash in their car I would love to see pictures. Thanks
-
Has anyone used or seen the fiberglass dash that is being sold by www.pdkfabrication.com ? The picture on their web site is small. Curious how good the quality, fit and finish are?

I'm a S30 guy myself, but love all things Z. I have a chance to get a 86 5-speed N/A with t-tops, for just about nothing. It's a complete car that ran just before it was parked many years ago where it now sits. It's a solid, no rust California car with a straight body. Originally white with a tan interior, but somewhere along the line it was painted green??? It's been sitting under a tarp, the paint is faded, the headliner is falling apart, but other than that it looks to be in pretty good shape and complete.
I don't have space, time or money for another project, my '70 is doing a pretty good job of sucking up all of the above. What do you guys think I should do?
1) Pass on it, the car will go to charity.
2) Try to see if there is enough demand for parts to try parting it out, space and time being the problem on that one.
3) Or picking it up and make a quick buck by selling it complete, can probably sell it for under $500.
The car is in the Los Angeles area and would have to be towed. Love to hear some suggestions....right now I'm leaning toward option #1.
I don't have pictures, but if someone was really interested I can try to get some.
I will also post this in the for sale section.
Thanks, Bill

Anyone know the part number or size of one of the Summit or Jegs universal radiators that fit the best on a 240.
-
My driving will mostly be local street cruising and some track time, probably won't be going on any cross country trips in the Z (no room for the wife and 2 kids). Thanks for the link Challenger, it was interesting.
I would like to use an aluminum unit. I know some of the hard core guys on the forum will bash me for saying I like the look...... but "I like the look". I know function over form, but I want my cake and eat it too.
-
If it's not a bad clutch master cylinder you may want to check the clutch fork really close. I had the same problem and after going around in circles I discovered that the fork had a hairline crack that was almost invisible at rest. But under load you could see the crack right where the rod coming out of the master goes into the fork.

What radiator do you guys recommend, and who has the best pest prices? A JTR plastic/aluminum, all aluminum like the MSA sells? I need something to keep my 3.1 turbo motor cool during SoCal street driving. Thanks

Dr-hunt, thanks for confirming what I was thinking, I don't want to "run out of intercooler" as the power levels go up.
BTW 280ZForce and J.Soileau, those are two of the nicest Z's on the planet, I use images of both your cars as inspiration to complete mine.

I find it funny that you guys are worried about knockoff treadstone intercoolers. The treadstones are knockoffs themselves! Nothing special here folks.
That said, I run a chinabay intercooler with good results. I certainly cannot justify paying 600 for something that I will ruin on the street within a few years.
Evan
Evan I agree, I can't see it making much of a difference for a street car.

Respone from Ebay seller. I also called treadstone directly. They are out of Miami, FL.
--------------------------------------------
Hi FB,
Thank you for contacting us. This is a Real Treadstone item. We are the Sole Midwest distributor of Treadstone High Qauilty Products and take this very serious. The reason this item comes with the option of the Treadstone Logo is we have a large amount of request for this style of intercooler to come with out the logo so we do not put the logo on all of the ones that area produce and sell them with out logo's on the front.
If you wish to contact Treadstone Directly and confirm our ability to retail these items please feel free, as we want you to rest assured that you are getting a genuine item and one that is of the highest quailty.
Please feel free to contact us if you have any questions. We look forward to supplying you with your performance products.
Sincerely,

Hey thanks for that, I really appreciate the leg work, I think I will get my Treadstone from that Ebay seller!

You do not need one that wide... I run that one on my Z currently, but have pretty high hp goals, I'm sure I'm going to have to modify the end tanks to allow for better flow in the future or get a trv185 to modify or make my own.
It is mounted on my car and I've driven with it just fine.
But I do recommend you either get the trv125 or trv185, one of those will be plenty.
What kind of power are you putting down, I am shooting for 500-525 RWHP, maybe more, I think I would rather have an intercooler that is a little on the big side than not big enough as my power level goes up.

Thanks for all the feedback guys! Evan, I have been following Monzter's intercooler CDF testing with great interest, that's why I chose to go with same side in/out FMIC. The Treadstone design is similar to Montzer's modified Spearco. Jeffer, this may sound like a silly question, but how heavy is the one you bought? The reason I ask is, my buddy only uses Spearco's on his race cars and swears by them. The current intercooler on my car is built with a Spearco core, although it is a little too small (that's why I am looking for a bigger one). The Spearco's feel very solid/heavy. He says the Ebay and even the Treadstone units are light and "whimpy". I would love to compare them side by side. Pete S, is the one you have similar to Treadstones, or is it actually a Treadstone, if not what are the differences?
