  1. john, the main differences between a hp and a standard 4150 are:

1: The choke tower is milled off, and the top of the main body is nicely radiused

2: The rear metering block has a PV and is set up for 4 corner idle

3: Both low and high speed air bleeds on the primary and secondary are drilled and tapped and use the replaceable bleeds

4: the secondary has an adjustment screw for the transfer slot exposure, and the rear blades are drilled

There may be a few others, but those are the main ones I can think of right now.

  2. Thanks Bain. It is good to know that the HP series works so well. I don't really want to BUY a modded carby like the HP series. I wanted to know what to do to a base model double pumper like the 4777 I already have.

I have a 4777 double pumper that needs a new baseplate and a rebuild. I was really going to do this myself, So I wanted to know about the mods that can be made to improve a base model carby instead of paying for the "full boat" treatment $$$.

I have a Chinese lathe and mill and a creative mindset. "If you didn't build it yourself, it's just a rental." is my motto. I also have experience with several sets of various Weber designs and their counterparts on motorcyles and cars. I have dual narrowband guages installed.

Did I say 5160? I meant 4150 hp. I am really hoping to see your car at the track soon. Do you have any pics of the whole car that you can post?

  3. OK guys, I have been through this part and will say that a stock holly 5160 hp carb will not let you down on the road course. The power valve issue just keeps you from needing larger jets. I have a 383 stroker in my road course car with stock floats and just needed to tune for af ratio. I do have a 750 cfm holley with road race floats and cannot tell any difference with standard floats. I did have to rejet the carb 10 sizes to get the correct a/f ratio

    Good luck,

  4. Just google Rota failure and you can read about it. BUT I haven't seen a failure post since 2005 or so, maybe they fixed the issue.

I bought a set as well so I am not hating o you, just curious to your opinions.

I have two new sets with two track days on them. It is too early to tell if they are going to be a problem. I will post any experience I have with them next season fyi

  5. They sure look nice on your car. Must have had them worked over first.

I guess your luck is better than mine. I bought a pair of the wide rears that came to me looking like dog sheit. I send them back just to get another pair of crap.

He then offers to hush me up I guess, by sending me a full set of his CF wide flares. Well, you don't see them on my car.... you guessed it... I'd have to have a paint guy work them over, and put paint on them to hide the shotty quality.

Don't ask about the $6,000+ worth of LCA's, paid in full for, a bunch of us never received, going on a year now.

Sorry to mention this in your thread, but seeing that name just does something to me now..

    280zForce ... aka Z Force Productions ... hmmm

I absolutely love how your Z turned out BAINATSEABOARD !! :2thumbs:

I am sorry to hear about all those problems. I would by upset too if I were in your shoes. I must have gotten lucky. I scotch brite cleaned them and sprayed them. It did take a long time to get them though.

  6. I love that car!!!! What a beauty. I remember when you were just getting it sorted out, and in primer still. It is REALLY nice looking. It makes me wish I went with the IMCA body kit. I hope to get mine finished soon. I am finally working on it again, small parts right now.

    Hey John,

It's been a long time. I hope you are doing well. We would love to see some pics of your progress.

  7. Thanks for all of the great comments. This car started out to be a beater that I could track and not worry about about scratches, dirt or how it looked... Something went wrong, very very wrong with that idea....

I have tried several times to post pics but the server gives me an error message every time.

The front info that Tom posted is right on. Roddy did a nice job. There were a lot of things for him to try to bring together to make the nose work. The ride height is 4 1/2 front and 5 rear.

The tires on the rear are 315/35/17 bfg's

There is aluminum reinforcement inside the fiberglass rear hatch to support the downforce that the wing creates. It sits on the rear of the car frame where the original latch would have been located.

  8. When is the next shake down at CMP? I would love to take a look at your car. It ain't junk in the pics I have seen.

Thanks, I am trying to go next Wednesday the 28th. If the weather is good, and nothing pressing at work I plan to be there all day. I am still in the shakedown process. I have not even dynoed or tuned it. I am sure there is more power in her. Can you make it?

  9. Hey Bain,

I had several people this past weekend come up to the car and ask "where is Bain?". I've heard alot of great things about your car from Tom and John. I've seen pictures and am looking forward to seeing it in person.

I did not realize my fanclub was going to be there...hahaha Don't believe Tom and John, They are just trying to make me feel good about my junkpile. Thanks guys
