  1. Well done. The first projects are always the most duanting huh?

Just a wee tip on your block off plate. Throw that thing in a vice and hit it with a file on the edges. It will look better and remove the sharp edges. That way you wont cut yourself to pieces when you rub your hand past it.

Good to get moving on these things!

  2. Can you see what this could cause? A whole bunch of tree hugging enviro types want a sports car so they google for more info on this "hybrid Z". Where is that going to bring them? and what do you think thier reaction to our cars will be?

Will be fun, when they realise that alot of the cars here are cleaner running than most other cars of this age.

  3. Hey there,

I am sending off some of my parts for blasting to then repaint and re assemble. My question is......blast with or with out the bushes?

    Options

    1. Blast with old bushes in place, re-paint, remove then install new ones

    2. Remove old ones, Blast, re paint and then install new ones

    3. Remove old, install new then blast and paint

I know option 3 probably isnt going to be the option but the first 2 are confusing me!

    Any suggestions?

    Cheers

  4. Look terrible, HELL yes.

But who are we to judge? i mean just looking at it there is a few little things that I actually like! Molded side skirts, Molded (but poorly done) headlight buckets, decent from a distance fender flares, custom tail light panel and molded rear bumper.

I realise that all the molded stuff will most likely crack at the joints at the first pot hole, but points for actually doing something!

Hell of alot of work (for an ugly to us) car. And I actually quite like seeing a S130 modded. The tail light panel gives me ideas and of course it can show you what NOT to do.

Would you be more agreeable to this iif it didnt have the Del-Sol bumper and the 747 wing?

  5. For a second there, I thought you had plated over the rear side windows. Looked closer and realised the strip between the window and roof had been painted.

Looks like you got a project there. I know the feeling of "When I have money"! Stick with it though

  6. I have noticed a few more of us on this board. Just wondering where everyone is and what Z's they have.

    Christchurch

86 Z31 Na, T-Tops, exhaust. Otherwise pretty standard

82 280ZX No paint, no engine NOTHING totally striped. just trying to get money to fix it up

Poor student at the moment so I dont really work on the 280 cause I cant afford anything!

    Cheers

  7. my dad got a Z31 when I was about 14, mom a z32 a year or so later. My cousin had a 280zxt for a little while. Played with all of those cars quite a bit. my cousin sold his. My Mom and Dad still had thiers. I put the word out to the family that I was looking for a Z, ANY Z!

A couple of months later my Uncle called and I flew up to wellington, took a look and drove home my new 280zx! Triples and alot work already done on but I is still stripping it.

  8. Hey There,

Had a wee starting issue with my Z31 so I thought to clean the connections on the starter motor. When I undid the bolts that go through the bellhousing some coolant leaked out!

    Bright Green and very clean.

Regular problem or am I in for a bit of challenge? I have no overheating issues or anything.

    Cheers

  9. Was thinking along the same lines. THe car does sit for quite a long time between drives. So not really somthing to worry too much about? Perhaps I need to start it up and let it warm up completely more often?

  10. But VERY strange milky oil. Z31 non turbo car. I pulled the valve cover to intake manifold hose off to check it wasnt cracked or leaking vaccuum. Inside it was a white milky oil. On the place where it goes into the manifold and into the valve cover, these are both with the milky oil as well.

So I check the oil on the dipstick and it was clean and clear.....

Any ideas on why there seems what looks like isolated water in the oil?

    Cheers
