  1. The frame rails I have look way different than the ones in the threads you attached. The rails I have do not have the flat lip that welds to the floor pan. Has anyone installed a set like I have?
  2. I am putting a set of mad dog frame rails on my 280z and had a few questions of the community. Do the new rails slip all of the way down to the base of the old rail to form a fillet weld? If it is a fillet welt does the top of the old rail need to be cut off? If not the previous layout does the frame rail slip part of the way down over the old to form a lap weld? Thanks SB280Z
  3. I crawled under the Z to start the fromt suspension up date only to find the frame rails badly rusted. The damage was only on the bottom of them and did not extend into the floor board. I have read the threads about the mad dog sheet metal that is available for my 76, what I was wandering was has any one used that sheet metal and added to it to connect the front and rear?
  4. Thank you for the info, back to searching for a donor car. My Z and now this 5.0 is the first time I have ever delt with EFI. My other toy is carberated.
  5. I was told this was a fuel injected motor.
  6. I am getting ready to do a 5.0 swap into my 76 280z and had a question to ask the forum. Is there one particular year 5.0 that is a better choice for the swap than another. I have a lead on a 86, 5speed, complete mustang and was curious if there was anthing inherintly bad about this year?
  7. Thank you for the info. I am using 5" threaded collars and 10" springs, so it looks like I will just slide the mount up a couple of inches. I would section the struts but I all ready bought the Illuminas for all four corners.
  8. I am just starting a coil over conversion like the one pictured and liked the stance your car ended up at. What height were the lower spring perches welded on at.
  9. When putting a close ratio 5 speed in a 76 280 2seater will the origanal throw- out bear collor and clutch fork work? Can the U joints on the drive shaft be replaced? If not where can I get one with new u joints? sb280z
  10. I hate to rehash somthing that has been beeten to death but the search didn't net the data I wanted. I have a stock 76 280Z I would like to upgrade to a 5-speed, what tranny will fit with the least amount of trouble? This is my daily driver that I was just tring to get a little more gas milage out of, bet you can't believe gas milage was mentioned on this site! Any way what year make and model would to the trick? Sb280Z
  11. What Is the differance in the spring seats for 70- 75 and 76's? Is it the thickness? If this is true can they be used to lower the car? Can it be done on all four courners? Thanks sb280z
  12. Hi I have a chance to buy a pair of Porsche 951,944 seats and was wandering is any one has used this seat in there Z. If so what was required to make them fit.
  13. Could someone direct me to a good site for information on installing a 240SX throttl body on a 280 FI.
  14. Hi Where could I find informationon, such as stroke, length, etc..., on Tokico struts for a 280. I have tried Tokicousa web site and all I could find was sales stuff. SB280Z
  15. Hi I am new to Hybridz and z's in general. I have owned my 76 280Z (bone stock for now) for about one year, it is my secondary mode of transportation. I have been reading about different ways to inprove the braking of the Z and I have some questions. I am on some what of a budget so Wildwood or the likes are out of the question. I have seen postings on the Toyota 4X4 conversion, is it worth while? What can be done on the rears, without a ton of modifications to the Z? Does the master cylinder need to be changeds when you start swapping around different bore calipers? What kind of pads work best for daily driving with a slight high performance need? Will these mods fit 14 inch rims ? Thanks SB280Z
