  1. trying to find if anyone makes or knows where to source floorboards for a 240z. new rails i have, just not good boards. thakns
  2. This is a new one. The numbers are still on the carb, and I cross referenced with the holley book to make sure it was the 390 cfm "universal" app. carb.
  3. since the last time I replied to this thread, I re-read (a few times) the post going back to '04 from Arizona Z. So I blocked off all the vacuum ports that were not needed. Only the choke and dist. advance are hooked up. Got the car to start, ( only about a minute). Then had checked the temp on the exhuast manifold. The front 3 were warm, but the back 3 were hot as h@ll. Would that sound like the back (right) jet of the carb is running way lean? Or the front is too rich, or both????? Thanks for any HELP!
  4. to Rolling Parts.. in one of your posts, you said you have 2 intakes on your workbench. Have you used either one? Would you mind posting who made them? I haven't had much luck trying to get my stock 240 running (let alone started). Installed is a new holley 390, the intake is from bob sharp racing, (looks very close to the arizonaZ one). I've also bought 4 new sets of jets, 51,53,54 &55's. Any suggestions for a starting point would be helpful, since Holley Tech themselves tell me it's more "trial & error". I've had a lot of the "error" part.
  5. on ebay, there is a person ( i think he's in houston, tx and ebay i.d. is reddat(??). Seems to have a lot of nos parts. if not listed, just ask him if he has it. Usually responds quickly.

    240z

this is how the Z was in 1988,now in 2009 I can "build" it the way I wanted to then. Since it doesn't require state inspection any longer!
  7. I have switched over to Holley (390 cfm) for my stock 240 engine, because I also had a '60 MGA that had SU's. Didn't like them then or now. Holley seams to be the way to go, but, for the members that do have a Holley, which main jets do you start with?
  8. Even though this tread started quite a while ago, it still is valid for some Z's that the time has come make some changes (like I have to). I put my Z on the road after a complete rebuild in 1988, ran great, looked good, etc., but now the old "SU's" don't work like they used to. I have in the past, had an MGA with them, and like the ones on the Z, were a royal pain to sync. I have rebuilt them, swaped out to a different pair, and STILL had problems (the front one always seemed to run richer). So now I'm installing a new 390 Holley with a "Bob Sharp Racing" intake. I guess as I get older, I don't have the time nor the patience to play with these any longer. The motor is a stock 240, the only mod is an Allison electronic ignition module (also installed in '88).
  9. I don't do body work for a living, but I have used many brands and types of paint. By far the easiest ( also the most expensive) was House of Kolor. I used thier Lacquer for the exterior and Enamel for the engine bay, etc., that was 20 years ago, still looks good. I will use them again in the near future as I am totaly re-doing my z again, probably with urethane.
  10. I just bought the msII v 3.57 from diyauto. Have a long way to go since it is going on a 280zx motor with Holley projection and a camden 'charger. I'll be watching this thread, as I think that I have a LOT of configuring to do.
