  1. g9m3c,

The electric fuel pump was added to help with fuel delevery when the car was hot and to try and help with vapor lock issues, it only starts working when the starter is engaged I believe. It is located in front of the tank and is a pusher. Under normal use the mechanical pump should work fine without the electric. I use a carter electric pump all on its own with a fuel

regulator set at 3 psi with SU carbs.

  2. COmputoman,

I have an early model 260z with the 240z style grill, to put a 280z style grill in you would have to add mounting tabs as these are different. So to say you could change from the 280z stlye to an early style 260z grill is yes just some mounting tab changes would be in order. I am not an expert but I believe that it should be able to be done with not much problems.

  3. Can the oil pan gasket be replaced with the engine still bolted to the motor mounts?

No, you must remove the bolts and jack the motor slightly, this will allow the front of the pan to clear the crank.

  4. Thanks for the comments,

We used a vinyl carbon fiber look, the dash had some good grand canyon cracks that we filled with foam and a plastic bumper filler to try and stablize it. Believe it or not no pattern was used the first one fit. The problems came with the fit of the gauges and the other components in the dash, some careful cutting on these to fit, the tach and speedo were set closer to the front, the three center gauges came from the back no problem. The center vent surround had to be trimed on the edges and a little use of black caulk finished it off. All in all it came out good. The transmission tunnel, center of the seats and a speaker box in the back all match. I do like the look..

If i can help anymore let me know.

  5. Production of the 74 260z started in august or september of 73 so there is no 74 240z.

The early production 260 had small bumpers like the 240 also is the 2nd rarest production of the Z car 9 months, the rarest being the late year 74, 3 months. From memory please do not quote me.

    that's US delivery

European 260Z ran about 5 years.

  6. Heres the problem..

I HAVE PLENTY OF BRAKE PEDAL ITS VERY FIRM BUT NO BRAKING POWER, I HAVE REPLACED, BRAKE BOOSTER, MASTER CYLNDER, CHANGED TO TOYOTA CALIPERS CROSS DRILLED ROTORS UP FRONT, MAXIMA CALAPERS IN THE REAR. I HAVE WHAT I WOULD BEST DESCRIBE AS NO BRAKING POWER, IT SEEMS THEY DO NOT WANT TO GRAB. I CAN NOT EVEN LOCK THEM UP UNDER FULL PEDAL. I DO NOT LOOSE PEDAL UNDER BRAKING. THE CAR WILL STOP BUT WITH LITTLE CONFIDENCE. ANY SUGGESTION?
