if your trying to source rhd parts why not try down here in oz too? there are plenty around, only downside is postage but with your dollar stronger then ours it helps a little bit on your side

that spoiler looks sick!

i have a similar problem with mine atm, dont hear the pump wind up when i turn the key around, think my pump is cactus. sprayed the connections in the car with them but the points on the actual pump the rubber has gone funny so i cant take it off to clean those points. sometimes just requires about 10sec of cranking to turn over

here is my little slice of heaven, this is my daily to my v8 commo but god i love being in a manual again
i guess i'd call it midnight blue
-
thats just the pressure difference generated by the fuel being drained from your tank and not replaced with air as it's a sealed system
-
nope as far as i know it's factory does not look any different at all

vapour lock was a big problem with the early models thats why they introduced the bonnet vents in the 280z onwards, try pick up a 280 bonnet otherwise if your a bit of a fiddler like i am try and move the fuel hoses as far away from the block as you can as this is what causes vapour lock (duh), its not hard to rig up a bit of ducting hose that dumps fresh air from the front on to your hoses either for that little bit of extra cooling

i am at my wits end as i have spent the best part of 2 days ripping the car apart trying to find the problem and fixing others as i see them. My cruise control wont enguage, i can turn it on and the unit powers up fine displaying the on light but when i press the button on the stalk nothing. I've checked the relays and tried putting others in but that didnt do anything, i pulled the cc control panel out and that seems fine as i sprayed it with contact cleaner and replaced all the globes while i was at it. wiring harness and plugs (as far as i can see without ripping the dash out) are fine, tried getting into the stalk but the screw is so brittle it started stripping so got in as best i could and cleaned it out and when that didnt work just unplugged it and made a bypass relay from the plug but to no avail. as far as i can tell all the vacuum hoses are in the right plugs (my haynes manual is american for lhd and i'm in oz with a rhd) plus all this turbo components throws me off a bit.
can somebody please shed some light and help me?

if you want a rotary why does it have to be a 20b why not a 13b? just brings up the reliability issue of running a rotary though, would be rather humerous to see one in there though as the size of thr engine bay and the motor you could probably have 2 guys standing in your engine bay to work on it. i guess if you want the best out of it you might want to install the 280zx 80l fuel tank too haha

Their Ecsta Supras I don't know the treadwear right off hand I'll look later but I can tell you they are rock hard,
there are several model of those as i've tried a few. the best one probably in that rack is the 712 as it has a treadwear of 230 which is bloody low. awesome grip but low endurance on a high hp car. even on my other car it was 210rwhp but being a v8 had heaps of torque and a stage 2 shift kit melted them within a year(and i do not do static burnouts) i've since gone 2 other compounds as the 712 is no longer available in australia. I now run the Ecsta SPT KU31 on my fronts as it has a treadwear of around 270-320 so for non driving wheels it offers great wet and dry grip as i do several motorkhana events per year as well as drags. On the rear i run the Ecsta AST KU25 it's a much harder compound but still maintains a AA traction rating but a treadwear af around 420 which will last me a lot longer, all of mine are 235/45zr17. i know a lot of the guys in my club who also do track racing go the type r's from federal. lot more expensive but once you get in the operating temps stick like ♥♥♥♥ to a blanket and these are all ls1/ls2 v8's sunning between 300-650rwhp
edit: i remember you also said you have got home, meaning you have been away. how old are the tyres? if tyres sit there for a while you will well know they go rock hard and lose performance

your choice then i guess between rb20 and more money for mods or an rb25. rb25 would be best bang for buck unless you can grab a small block v8 cheap. what are ls1/2s worth in the states now?
-
pfft if money isnt so much of an issue why not get an rb26 and put the hks 2.8l stroker kit on it have seen big numbers out of it on a locally produced car equiped with the hks 2wd conversion kit

The car has alot more in it I was trapping at about 95-98mph all day running high 14s low 15s so if I can get traction I think I can see 12s in it.
was going to say the same thing about that. that gate speed is about right for that time. in my v8 i can get around 14.7-14.3 in full street trim and was getting around 95-105mph at the gate, dependant on how i set up my air intake
good luck with your pursuit anyway. what type of street tyres are you using? i know you said kumhos but what traction and tread wear do you have? i know federal make a good semi slick

well i finally managed to get pictures of my car so here it is. some really nice zeds looking up the page a bit. how hard is it to get a hold of those light covers in the US? down here they are as rare as rocking horse ♥♥♥♥. i've started getting new bits and peices, all i have left to do now is get a couple of interior peices and the new headlights and i'm happy, oh and we have new plates in out state that go #xxx-### so i'm trying to get 1dat-280
-
how much modification of the brackets is necessary to make them fit?
-
hey guys i finally got a 280zx however i have absolutely no idea on it's origin as to whether it's an oz spec or import, still trying to find out the details etc. It's a 79 5 speed non turbo targa top in royal blue i'd guess with a gold pinstripe and the cream/brown interior. i'm slowly sourcing parts for it to bring it back up to spec and i'l post some photos as it's gotten dirty again. where would i find info on intake manifolds? mines got a p76 with the dual stage t/b's and the wreck i was stripping the other day had a p72 on it. wanna find all the differences so i can start to get the most out of it then mod it up
