  1. Yea I Googled the Phantom Grip like RB26'  said.   I think you are right johnc.  Junk.

I just read about 11 pages on the OBX carrier about taking it apart and reversing the helical gears (if needed) and redoing the bolts and washers.

They are about $435 on Ebay now.   The Quaife is $1209 and the OS Giken in $1700 on Ebay

Anyone know a cheaper place to get the Quaife?.

    Thanks

  2. I agree with some of the comments.

Too many hood louvers--should've started with a non-louvered hood and moved them toward the back of the hood some (maybe put a satin black or carbon fiber hood on it).

Not crazy about sunroofs but i haven't seen a 'his-n-hers' in many years.

I just noticed he painted the window rubber--(maybe you could go along the edge with a razor blade and put new rubbers in it without messing up the paint).

Not crazy about the red on the seats and i usually don't like the MSA bumper covers but it seems to go well with the custom side skirts and the little rear quarter skirts (i really don't like the MSA rear covers that have the rear skirt).

Kinda like the flat wheels (no dish) on this one also.

I may go and check it out...it's close to my house.

I noticed a couple of things about it that don't match.

Some of the window trim is red and some of it is black or missing.

It also looks like the z logo has been painted over on the pass side but not the drivers.

There are a couple things I don't like but overall it looks pretty good with some nice custom touches.

    Opinions??

  4. There are a few identifying items of the head that I recall and have pics of from when I originally built the head.

Oh, and it has a 4 angle valve job, not 3. Not that anyone is counting.

    So Braap,

Did you build the engine specifically for a turbo application w/dishtops or did you use flattops?

The reason I ask is that the cam seems kind of big for a turbo application.

Also is everything else listed correctly other than the 4-angle valve job?

  5. The wide ZG flares that 280zforce sells are $390 for a set. They are a 10 bucks cheaper than those eBay ones and probably much better quality too. I'm definately thinking about getting a set myself. They look freaking awesome.

i don't know the quality of the e-bay ones (probably not very good, but they do have a good rating with a 7-day return policy) but they are $100 for all 4 and free shipping.

  6. so everyone is pretty sure it's a fidanza?

here is the back side of it.

i couldn't get the pic to load before.

i can get it pretty cheap but i don't know if it needs resurfacing.

what's the average price to get it resurfaced and balanced with the pressure-plate?

  7. i just happened upon this thread and i had talked to him a couple years back about building a turbo motor for me.

i was gonna furnish the stock turbo motor and he was gonna use his custom fuel rail and exhaust manifold (he said this was his secret for power along with a custom port job).

i was gonna take the car to him and he was gonna do all the work as well as put it in the car and get it running for somewhere around $5k.

maybe it's a good thing i decided against it.

here is a video of his car. it is VERY fast. i'd say he did his right though.

  8. i was thinking of using a 72-74 4-speed in my 73 with a 3:36 diff which now has a zx 5-speed instead of swapping the rear gear (3:90 r-200) as i'm about to drop in a f-54/p-79 flat top motor in the car and i'm gonna pull the trans with it anyway.

the gear ratio's match up pretty close through all the gears with the 4-speed/3:36 and the late 5-speed/3:90 except for the OD which is 2:92 with the 3:90 (i think).

is the zx 5-speed stronger than the 4-speed?
