  1. I spent all day on one side of the car.... I can't seem to get the rear quarter sanded to suit me. I'll pick it up again tomorrow, had all I can take of it today. http://picasaweb.google.com/NewZMan2/280ZRestoreProject/photo?authkey=rZmcty_V38E#5105030621683584658
  2. I would love to see some photo's. I thought about rolling, but I was just too scared to try that. Hope your's turns out good.
  3. I think it is more in the thinning of the paint than the type of spray gun. Use lower pressure and really thin paint. I sprayed a tack coat, let it flash then immediately came back with a slightly heavier coat. Today I have to try a buffer to rent somewhere....
  4. I finished up putting on the last two coats of paint. I love to paint, but the wet sanding sucks... My mixture is about 2 or 3 to 1 acetone to paint. I made it really thin and with the dryer added it seems to really bring out the shine. I am using a Cornwell gravity feed HVLP gun at about 25lbs. The pressure a little high for the gun, but I really got a good flow. I added a few more pics. The last one is a test section after I sanded with 2000 grit and polished with the compound and wax. I think it is going to turn out great, but I've had enough for today. I really need to find me an electric buffer.. http://picasaweb.google.com/NewZMan2/280ZRestoreProject/photo?authkey=rZmcty_V38E#5105030621683584658
  5. I'm spraying it. I was afraid to try the roller thing and I know how to spray and have the stuff. So I just went for it.
  6. I updated the photo link with some pics after the 1st wet sand and re-coat. I am using gloss black and thinning with acetone. I am also using Jap-dry to speed paint set-up. So far the paint is working outstanding and seems to be very hard this morning..... It stood the fingernail test. I will update later. http://picasaweb.google.com/NewZMan2/280ZRestoreProject/photo?authkey=rZmcty_V38E#5105030621683584658
  7. I spent all last night reading the post on the guy that painted his charger with roller and some paint similar to rustoleum. Being the wtf kinda guy I am I thought I would try it on my Z. Plus being short on money is a big factor... I preped the car as normal with my body work and primer. I wet sanded the car then took the instructions from the other post and wiped the car down with 100% mineral spirits and tacked it off. It is 7:24PM here now and I just finished the first coat. Here are some before and after pics. This is just the first coat and I haven't wet sanded. Hopefully tomorrow I will wet sand and put another coat on. I will post more pics tomorrow night. From what I've seen so far I think this is going to be great.
