  1. Most of the people with newer Zs are into their cars just like those of us who bought S30s, S130s, Z31s and Z32s as our first Zs were-how long did it take us to see the previous cars-getting past the mindset of "my Z is king!", takes a while...I know when I bought my first S30, it was several years before I went looking backwards for what came before...then I bought a 2000 roadster, and started collecting original Nissan literature...It isn't that some of these guys haven't been bitten by the bug yet-they just haven't started itching...once they figure it out, and the pride they have in their first Z settles in enough to allow them to see that there were previous models, and the history from the previous model(s)is the reason the next Z came along, the fever takes over....then they will investigate, and develope a personal favorite model or two, but they will quit knocking other Z Models...it just takes a while...
  2. Rog, Nice to have yours to choose from! For the rest of you, Here is a great chance to gt together with other Z guys, and see a world class Car show-arguably the best in the country. Last year several people who attended(as Spectators, Entrants, and Honored Guests) Pebble Beach said that Amelia Island was organized and carried out better, and was far more enjoyable! As an added bonus, If you act before midnight March 12th, and bring $20, you can attend a panel talk Titled "The Great Customizers" featuring Chip Foose, George Barris, Dean Jeffries, Darryl Starbird, Steve Pasteiner & Gene Winfield!!! The talk will be given Friday March 13th from 3-4:30. Talk about guys who are "Unstockafied"! It is almost like they saw HybridZ comming-obviously in the rear view mirror-briefly! I'll be taping the talk, and hopefully posting some of the video. For a peek at some of the cars (NoZs) that were there last year, look here: http://www.classiczcars.com/photopost/showgallery.php?cat=3482 From Stanley Steamers to an Air plane inspired Porche by Ferdinand himself! They were there! The thread holds 155 pictures out of the 700 I took last year! Will
  3. Rog, It ain't the banks of Daytona, but I might have to set up across from the Ritz Carleton and take pics of the Zs driving by! Will Which/what would you drive up?
  4. This year there will be a Z in the Amelia Island Concours d'Elegance. It is a 1973 Rally car built by Peter Brock and beautifully restored by its current owner, and no stranger to Z cars, Mr. Carl Beck. Carl's car was featured in the September 2008 issue of Classic Matorsports Magazine, and the Photos were taken by Mr. Peter Brock! If you are in a quandry over what do do the weekend of March 13-15, the 2009 Amelia Island Concours will be going on! The guys on ClassicZcars are trying to get the Amelia Island parkway leading up to the Ritz Carleton lined with Zs in the wee hours of the morning of show(Sunday march 15th). We will be meeting at Pavilion #5 on Little Talbot Island on Saturday to have an impromptu Z show, and plan for Sunday morning, so If you are in the area, come on over. Here is the thread : http://www.classiczcars.com/forums/showthread.php?t=29743&page=3 Will
  5. I agree with everything you said. Being just on the right side of that borderline is exactly what it will take. Being banned from a local Zclub that you are not local to and have not participated in except via a post or two and a PM to make its members aware of how a VP does business is really a serious loss. I would think a single Pm sent to all of the memebers concerning a member of the leadership of the club would be difficult to classify as harassment as long as it simply contained facts-and not vague patches of smoke and a mirror or two for good measure. Chasing down the guy from hundreds of miles away will get under his skin, but any authority he brings in to stop it is only going to investigate the situation, and then jump sides-and he knows that! There is only one way to skin this cat and that is to refund the purchase price and the shipping. He sent it out as something it wasn't. His excuse that he didn't know when he sent it out changes nothing. What he said he sent and what was paid for were not and are not what was sent. All the issues started and will end with the seller. Will
  6. I have to say this, if I were you I would type up a brief "here's how the VP of your club does business" with only facts and links to this thread, sign into his club from another isp(Even Burger King has free internet access-'least 'round here) and PM every member. Nobody wants a proven lier in their midst. I would be raising such a rukus no chance in hell I could be ignored. Search him on the internet-send a certified letter asking for a refund to his home and his work. As I recall he has a canadian address and one in the states, verify his citizenship, and let him have it! Nobody can force him to do the right thing, but they sure can make him miserable for not, It will come down to how much crap is he willing to put up with for $260. He knows he caused the crap to fall from the sky, and what he has to do to make it stop... All you have to do is the rain dance! I would contact his local police and see if the have an internet fraud unit! crossing state lines is a fellony bad thing, I am sure crossing country lines is worse! Will
  7. IF HE CAN IGNORE YOU HE HAS NO REASON TO RESOLVE THIS, IF HE CAN'T IGNORE YOU, HE HAS A REASON TO RESOLVE THIS! Anybody can pretend anything for a little while, but in the long run the pressure will get to them-the closer you get to adversely affecting their comfort zone, the faster the issue will get resolved. People do not like change-be it losing a job or going to jail. With time on your hands, check into what taking his to small claims court will do...the more stink you throw his way, the worse he will smell...sooner or later he will want a bath. Somethings are worth more than what they cost-catching a thief is one of those things. Will
  8. I must be one of the crusty old farts! It is all about right and wrong! These guys count on your getting tired of no results and giving up, so they can go back to "business" as usual, and burn the next guy. That is exactly what guys like this are waiting for...and why more and more of them appear. If it is profitable for them to do, and not painful-they will keep doing it! Sand in awkward places bothers most people, but most will still return to the beach. If you want sand to get results, you must be a sand blaster! When you give up and get tired, they win. Don't devote you life to this, but spend a few minutes once a week on it, and ultimately you will get a result. When the sand starts costing him more money than he made, he will resolve the issue. $260 won't break anyone, or will it? When the damage to his reputation is worth more than resolving your situation, he will refund the money. Why are you worried about pissing off a crook-he wasn't one bit concerned about pissing you off-for exactly the reasons stated above. Will
  9. NEWELL GENE ( Al ) ALLEN, JR AKA DatsunParts, AKA Datsun-Parts, AKA URJellis, ( A2602NV@YAHOO.COM ) has changed his listed ebay city to: Etiwanda, California, United States to add confusion and delay! He is still the same guy... Will
  10. A second pertinant thread at CZC! Al actually joined in for a round or two... http://www.classiczcars.com/forums/showthread.php?t=16183&highlight=bad+ebayer+list&page=3
  11. Daeron, I got both of your points completely, I just wanted to re-inforce and explain them. JSM, You must have looked at some other pictures...crap under the paint at every weatherstrip, two obvious repairs to the hood, bent up fornt cowl, un-touched dents in both door openings, and the hood, incomplete painting-some parts had clear coat, some didn't, in touched holes in the engine compartment, a seriously mismounted headlight cover, front bumper incorrectly attatched(and scratching the paint at every bump in the road). It is better condition than the average 240Z that has anaccumulation of 30-something years of dirt on the floor portion of its transmission hump upholstery(as this car stil does), no brakes, no lights, and some untouched bodywork, but relative to a Show worthy restoration entered in the Stock class at a ZCCA car show, it is worse off than a similar car entered in the Driver class at the same show. The car has obviously had some work done to it, some of it well done, most of finished in a hurry and improperly. The car is at best 30 foot refresh, read the thread, no brakes, no suspension, no lights...if this is your idea of very nice condition, boy have I have got a deal for you! Will
  12. The worst part is Al wrote the ad. Al put the car in the shape it was delivered in, and Al claims no responsibility for any of it...He wrote the ad for the car stating that he made it an award winning restoration, but takes no credit for the wording of the ad, nor how car came out...now that should tell everyone about the PRIDE he takes in his work. Read the ClassicZcars thread, Look at the pictures and deside for yourself if what AL did was acceptable. His local Better Business Bureau, several of his past buyers, and more of those who left good feedback before realizing what they got was not what they paid for don't think so. Will+ Will
  13. You pretty much nailed it. Al sells to buyers who have no idea what a NOS/OEM part should look like. He counts on them seeing pretty and leaving feedback before they know better...more often than not they do! If everyone knew that most NOS parts came in only raw unpolished aluminum, a golden cadmium plate, or black alkilyd paint, and that Powdercoating was never a factory finish on early Z cars, Als creative advertising would be exposed to more than the experienced Z nuts. The time to find out your parts finish is neither OEM nor NOS is not in the judging of a car show-after you already left good feedback! The Better Business Bureau Rates Al Allen JR BDA DatsunParts AKA Datsun-Parts on ebay a "D" as in take caution when dealing with him. If you want to see ALs version of an award winning restoration-have a look here! http://www.classiczcars.com/photopost/showgallery.php?cat=3526 More pictures will be added as I get the car apart and find more of Als handiwork-or lack thereof. Will
  14. At least hundreds of posts verifiable as theirs somewhere... Will
  15. I am planning using the runners(extrude honed as discussed above) of a Diesel manifold assy and doing serious modification to the bolt on manifold for a turbo project. Will
