  1. Have you played with your VE Table at all? I'd start with that before messing with pulse widths and such. Chris said his car like to idle around 13:1 AFR, I think mine likes around 13:5. Do you have a wideband? And why are you running Iridium plugs? Most people go with NGKs I think... I'm using BPR7ES in mine.
  2. It's okay, Darwin will get the unlucky ones. That could have been baaaaaad. Think of what would've gone down if a tire had gone. I lol'd
  3. ...There's a turbocharger section on the main page, and methinks you skipped over the rules without reading them.
  4. Sweet, thanks so much - I got the dropping resistors Let it snow recommended, I'm going to try out the PWM off thing tonight. The car runs fine otherwise.
  5. My friend Dan was telling me he was tuning his buddy's GTP and the sensor started showing a 15:1 AFR, switched sensors and it was actually 8:1 If that is the case, is my sensor done for? This is the first wideband I've ever owned and I don't know much about them. Hopefully going to get time to work on the car/wideband tomorrow, It was sunny and warm today so I drove the S30. It's running really well, cranks right up with MS, but I can tell it's absurdly rich up top.
  6. The wideband was working fine for a couple of days. On a night run, shortly after a few resets, the wideband got locked up and started giving me the "stuck-lean" readings. The sensor is located about 1 and a half to 2 feet after the turbo, as far to the edge of the MSA 2.5" DP I could get it. It is "pointing down" I guess, on the top of the DP tube. I'm not really sure what you are talking about. If you pulled the wires straight up out of the sensor to make a straight line, the sensor metal end is pointing directly to the ground. I haven't had the time to play with Megalog Viewer, or re-calibrate it, but I recalibrated it in open air about 2 days before it started
  7. I've got an extra L28ET sitting at the shop... doin' nuthin... Don't you forget!! I've even tricked a couple newbs, someone called a L28ET related part a "terbeaux" haha
  8. So, the Z stays stock while you build a Merc? I say throw a terbeaux swap in the 240 and Get the Speed six for the Benz
  9. How much do you honestly think that cam install and Holley 390 and a rebuild is going to run you? You asked about streetability and "what setup," I'm gonna go with a turbo and EFI > a cammed Carb'd car, and you never mentioned that price was an issue. Go do some searching.
  10. You won't loose any streetability with a turbo setup, and you'll make much more power than the L6 will ever see N/A for the same amount of $$$ Welcome to Hybrid Z, please clean up your posts. That non-punctuated or spaced paragraph was hurting my eyes.
  11. On my 78: * The paint was "two years old" and already rusting through, * Bondo on the driver's rear 1/4 over rust, as well as the passenger side fender which I replaced, * a mystery switch, * a "stealth" alarm system that has killed my battery a couple of times and screwed my starter wire [takes a couple of tries to get it cranking] * some DIY wire 'fixes' on the stock EFI, and uncovered fusible links that held water when it rained. * ran 6x9 home stereo speakers in the back and the speaker wires are sketchy now. * left the headers to the exhaust pipe with a slip joint with no clamp. * let it rust to hell :/ I made a steel plate "floor pan" for my passenger's side, if there was a owner after me they would rail on me for it, but the chassis is too far gone unless I want to spend lots of $$$ to fix it.
  12. Alright, I just ordered the 50W 4.0 OHM dropping resistors. I'm seeing if BRAAP can get me some magnecor wires and see where that gets me. Anyone care to look at my wideband issue in the first post? Anyone think the sensor crapped out? I had a steady 20.0 AFR on the way to school this morning and I know I'm running really really rich.
  13. I trust you so I'm not voting. Whatever you decide is the right thing to do, even if it means a S30-hiatus, hopefully you will get to come back and do a proper 240Z, in a low-stress environment. I know many of people love that car and all of the work that has gone into it, I can't even imagine what a car done "properly" in your mind would look like. I would really like to see what a boosted VQ35 S30 would be like though Good luck at your new job and congrats on the new house!
  14. I'll get in touch with Paul tomorrow about some for my S30, my N/A wires are crappy and old and I'm sure are causing some problems. Where are yours mounted? I'll order two of the 25s tomorrow. I've got a busy week ahead...
  15. Cool! Thanks for the info. I guess I should track down the source of the nasty voltage first but it can't hurt to order those, they are cheap.
  16. Alright. Which dropping resistors did you use? I've got switched 12V and straight 12V running directly to the battery. I've got the turbo injectors for now. I'll be upgrading to 35# Ford SVO injectors soon.
  17. Well I'm loving everything about MegaSquirt, I say go for it! Better spark, control of fuel and spark... It's MAP [Manifold Absolute Pressure] based so you can run it N/A or Terbeaux without having to change anything but your Fuel/Spark maps, and if you blow of IC Piping couplers you won't be stranded If they are really brown tops and not just dirty N/A injectors, then that's not good. N/A [iIRC] = 180cc Turbo = 260cc.
  18. I'm using the N/A Spark plug wires... I'll be getting some Turbo ones this week now. Thanks for the suggestion. I'll have to read that thread more thoroughly later in the week when I'm not swamped with school work but I think my timing is right with the Dizzy/MS
  19. Why have you made 4 threads for the same problem? It's hard to track what you have/haven't done if it's all spread out. Did you check your rotor phasing again like I suggested? I JUST went through this process two weeks ago so it's fresh on the brain, and it's not that hard to set up the 83 ZXT CAS Dizzy with MS.
  20. How is the fuel rail getting fuel, It looks like the lines go under the manifold?? I'm also confused about the AFM...
  21. Search much?????? Get a hack saw, and cut the collar to the LCA. Find a similar size socket as the collar and bang it out of the LCA.
  22. Thank you much, Zero. Here is my N/A to Turbo swap thread: I mention the SS Oil lines [Got them from Pegasus Auto - www.pegasusautoracing.com] and a bunch of the other stuff for converting your N/A L28 to a Terbeaux! http://forums.hybridz.org/showthread.php?t=153195 Also to add to the simplicity that is a shaved '75 Intake manifold with a Pallnet fuel rail, and I have MegaSquirt which cleans up the engine bay wiring harness
