  1. thanks for the help with the key. i had ordered one from a company on the internet with a few of my other parts but it didn't fit when it got here. ill go and check with the dealership this week. as for the clearance i am sure i will have to notch out the block a bit i was just curious as to others experiences with it since i hadn't read much about it in any of the build threads.
  2. please i could really use some help on the keyway issue. without having that fixed im not sure i can put everything together in case i have to do any machine work on the crank
  3. hi everyone. so i finally got the majority of my stroker project parts here and all the machine work done on the block. so it just about time for assymbly. however i had a few questions. first the crank has the 3 half moon indentations for the keyway. i have heard this is the same as the stock crank or atleast that the stock timing chain sprocket and oil drive will fit. however i do not have a stock crank anymore and i dont know where to get a new keyway so that it can be installed. does anyone know anything that could help me out? also i wanted to know how many of you ended up notching the block for rod clearance. i only have a 87mm bore and i think that left a little more material for the rods to contact because they seem like they are going to touch if only just slightly. i wont really know untill i get everything mocked up and test it for sure. i was seeing if anyone had any incite on this aswell. thanks edit: also looking for a bellhousing for the BW or tremec t-5 tranny. got one with a mustang housing im pretty sure. anyone know where i could get one?
  4. ok so ive done some searching and i cant seem to find any information on a certain aspect of my build. i have the V07 crank with the 3 slots for the keyway. now i was told i can use my old oil drive gear and crank sprocket. my question is how? how do i safely modify a raised keyway part to fit a slotted crank snout? also im buying a new front damper, can i get a replacement 280z balancer or do i need something specific for the different crank.? thanks for the help
  5. sorry to bring the thread back from the dead but i have progressed farther along and need to actually put the sprocket and oil drive gear on the crank. so now that you all say it will fit, how?
  6. thanks guys, i do have the slots instead of a raised single bar keyway like the stock one. ive never really dealt with a keyway like this. do i need to find a different timing chain sprocket or can the stock l28 one be fitted to this keyway somehow?
  7. i tried a quick search but i couldn't come up with anything so i decided i would ask. i got my ld28 crank in the mail today and opened it up. the crank looks almost identical except for one thing. the front doesn't have a key way like the old l28 crank. instead it has little indentations on it. i was under the impression that they were exactly the same but apparently not. does this mean i need to find a ld28 timing chain sprocket and oil pump gear? also a stock harmonic balancer wont fit anymore will it? it has v0740 stamped on the first counter weight if it is possible to verify it is a ld28 crank from that. thanks for any help and sorry for the newb question.
  8. did search, multiple times for anything related to junkyard turbos. nothing useful. so if you have some info post it. if not, i dont need you flaming me cuz im new to the site. go find something constructive to do instead of ride my ass. oh and thanks to calgary and xenon fro the help
  9. ok well i may have phrased my question wrong. i know that a t3 flange is what fits on the stock manifold. but what im more interested in is a what cars i could find a suitable turbo in at a salvage yard. how big is the holeset turbo on the dodge trucks? im looking for something with a fairly quick spool but that can support about 350hp. the t3/to4e seems to be the standard for that aplication but where would i source a junkyard one? could i pull like the compressor side of a wrx turbo and mate it with my stock turbine side? is that possible?
  10. im trying to figure out what turbos will fit on the stock turbo zx manifold. i am building up a turbo motor and i dont have the money for a brand new one just yet but i would like to upgrade from the t3. what junkyard turbos would bolt up? and i am a semi competent welder so i could possibly fabricate a adapter of some kind. any help with that option would be much appriciated as well. thanks for the help guys.

  12. hi, im trying to decide on what clutch to put into my 81 turbo 280zx. ive looked online at a few but all the options seem somewhat overwhelming. i need something that would confidently hold 400 ft lbs or so and is still decently streetable. the car will spend most of its life on the street but i plan on tracking it a couple of times a year. any suggestions or something that you guys have found is a good choice? budget isn't a huge concern but i would like to keep the costs down if possible. thanks for any help you can give me.
  13. hi i am building up a f54 block with a p90 head. i was planing on using the hks 1mm metal head gasket but while searching on here i heard that it was no longer in production. i was wondering if this was true or not. also if it is what other gasket options do i have? ive heard of the .6mm nisimo gasket, the 1 and 2mm hks gaskets. so i guess i have two questions. which head gaskets are still available and if i do choose any of these gaskets will i need to do anything to correct the valve timing?
  14. hi, im new to the forum and slightly new to cars and racing as well being as i am only 18. but im trying to line up a 260z project car with a 82 l28et engine and tranny dropped into it. my plans are to drift the car since it is a very light body with good weight distribution and decent stock horsepower with upgrade potential. i was wondering what you guys thought about the project and if there were any snags i may run into with the swap. also any thoughts on drifting the car. thanks alot for any help.
