Is it bad to quote yourself? LOL
I have had several people over the years ask me for my humble little write-up. I just recently had yet another person ask about receiving it. Unfortunately I lost it in a PC crash. Can the few I sent it to get in contact with me? I would like to get it back so I can continue to send it to other people in need.
i know this is old but i gave it a shot anywase but did you get the wireing write up back i realy need help with this alternator problem in the 260z

to boost CR to achieve better low-mid torque on a budget, would it be preferred to swap a MN47 head on a pretty much stock L28E or shave the existing ZN47 head? the stock dished pistons would stay, budget.
how much shaving could occur before cam tower shimming becomes a concern? would shaving of .050 reduce combustion chamber volume to 40cc? is there a rule of thumb?
given torque is the objective, would replacing the MN47 stock 42mm intake valves with the N47's 44mm valves be a good place to spend money?
thoughts & opinions are appreciated
i have been running the mn47 head for 2 years and it has its ups and downs depends if its efi or carb i think it would be cheap to go with the mn47 head if its easy to get to here in SD california we have JY full of them

i currently have a 73 with an l28 f54 bock p90 head with .30 bore and flat top pistons. hks 1mm head gasket. it is still running the orignal su carbs from when we swaped it to an L28. its a 5 speed and a stock rear end.
but the true question is. since i already have the block bored and flatty pistons to build of my existing l28 and supply it to a turbo fuel injection setup or do i swap into sr. the only reason i am asking this question is that i already have the engine in my car and may save money but it also may be more headache .
i want the most bang for my buck and want at least 280 hp plus!
any insite?
dude sr aint even all that you could make pretty good horse power for cheap with the L28et if your mechanicly inclined you could do alot since you live o side therse a ecology there sometimes they got some good stuff there but you gotta go to chula vista for a bigger selection

if you got any junk yard were you from i suggest to go with a volvo oil cooler decent size looks profesional or pick up a rx7 oil cooler gen 2
-
ive seen a bug with a 426 hemi in it i guess you could do anything
-
yeah i did. new timing chain set i rebuilt my carbs to the problem is already fixed 91 with octane booster works
-
Great thread. Anyone out there running a "blow-thru" or "draw-thru" carburated turbo set up on their L28?
Julius
yeah my lil brother who also has a 240z is doing a blow -thru carb set up should be done in a few weeks this is the stuff he has so far:
L28et long block
cliffford 6=8 4barrel intake manifold
t3/t4 turbo
holley 650 cfm double pumper modded for blow threw
greedy b.o.v. type rs
all he needs is a front mount ic waste gate and indution piping witch we might get this weekend
-
looks cool but it would be cooler if it was a 2 peice type intake like rx7 intakes and secondary injector bosses that way you could take the valve cover off if you need to without taking off the intake and make several intake tops like triple idfs or something
-
dude you should just repair dashes for a living you could make bank!
-
the s30 z's wasnt made to drift more for road racing i use to have fun getting sideways in my fc rx7 but with the z just cant seem to hold it even with an lsd. though it would be cool if someone could come up with a mod that will work

rock auto the website? how long did it take to ship?
-
were did you get your booster at? i have been looking for one all around daygo cant find one for a good price i have been boosterless for 3 months
-
i did put it back too 15 degree advanced same problem but i think runing higher octane should do it
-
thanks for the knowledge i think my best bet is to run higher octane or a different octane booster

Where is the positive feed coming from?
positive is coming from b on the e12-80 to the positive on the coil
-
What year car is this in? How is this coil and ignition module wired up?
it is ia a 71 240z . from the e12-80 i got the neg - going to neg- on the coil i got the pos+ going to the ballast resistor to the pos+ post on the coil.

You will learn with HC setups, you kill it by stepping on the brakes and letting the clutch out, or by having a throttle solinoid that completly kills the air to the motor, so basicly your throttle stop screw rest on a solinoid that is kicked out when the key is on, and when the key is off, the solinoid closes so your butterflys will go 100% closed.
sound great but is that nessesary is there any other way besides doing that like going to a colder plug perhaps?
-
Dieseling out is when an engine continues to run after the key is shut off and sounds like it's chugging to a stop.
correct
